Not Sure What Happened to My Email Subscribers {Updated}

I am trying not to have a panic attack…

I logged in this morning and saw that my subscribers had dropped by almost 600. I quickly logged into Feedburner and noticed that my email subscribers were no longer being counted. Checked my email from last night, and guess what? No email from my blog like there should have been. {I subscribe just so I know the email goes out without a hitch.}

When I tried to subscribe by email again, it said I was already subscribed, but I can’t find any email subscribers at all listed in Feedburner.

I’ve posted in the Google Feedburner Help Group, but who knows when – or if – my post will even be answered.

Hopefully things will just correct themselves soon and tonight’s email will go out without a problem.

I’m praying so, anyway, because my stomach is sitting on the floor right now, this has me so upset.

Have you ever had an issue with your feed numbers dropping drastically overnight? Did the problem correct itself or did you have to do something to fix it?

Update – 9/30: Looks like it was/is a feedburner issue. The emails went out, and my numbers are back up. Still not sending out tweets for new posts, but hopefully that fix will come next. Sorry for the panic attack yesterday.

IdentityHawk TV Commercial Educates Viewers on Identity Theft Solutions

Recently, IdentityHawk aired a TV commercial to educate viewers on identity theft solutions. {You can watch the IdentityHawk Commercial.}

It took about a minute to watch the commercial, and I’m glad I did. What an interesting commercial. While I can’t actually picture an identity thief walking up to someone’s trashcans in broad daylight, I do think the services IdentityHawk offers are something every individual should consider.

IdentityHawk is here to help individuals safeguard their properties, their assets, and their good names. Through all of IdentityHawk’s protective benefits, members can view the status of their identity protection, helping them to identify the areas where they are most at risk. Then, it gives them proactive steps they can take to reduce those risks and keep their identity and credit scores in tact.

With the 30 day free trial, you get immediate Social Security Number protection, credit monitoring and online data scanning 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and $1,000,000 in Identity Theft Insurance.* (Please see their website for full details.) IdentityHawk notifies individuals of a problem or situation before there’s a change to your credit score – not afterward like many other services do.

IdentityHawk seems like an incredibly useful tool. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch the commercial for yourself and see if their services are right for you and your family.*

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I can often be found wearing a pair of sandals at any given time of the year. {It’s a good thing we live in Georgia now. Before this post, I had not heard of Havaianas. Apparently, I’ve been missing out! They have some of the cutest womens sandals I have ever seen! They also offer kids sandals, mens sandals, and shoes for men and women. {I am so in love with the kid and baby Superhero sandals that I can’t even stand it! I know what my boys will be getting for Christmas this year.} My daughter Ashley would flip over many of the different styles as well. There are just so many to choose from!

The wonderful folks at Havaianas are offering up a pair of sandals to one lucky reader! {Winner picks the size and the style, up to $35.}

Mrs. Dash is Still Spicing Things Up!

Every few months since December, I’ve been keeping you all updated on some major diet changes I’ve made around here. Those changes started with cutting out salt from many of my favorite dishes and substituting in Mrs. Dash seasonings instead. It’s been 9 months now, and I find myself reaching for Mrs. Dash every time I want to season something. I rarely use salt any more in any of my recipes. Mrs. Dash offers so many different blends that it’s easy to find exactly the taste I’m craving.

This summer, we grilled out a lot. I have become quite a pro at using the grill, and Mrs. Dash helps make everything so much better. Even the kids will tell you how much they love my chicken and pork chops seasoned with Mrs. Dash.

I also want to share a recipe with you. I’ve actually made this dish so many times that I don’t even have to look at the recipe any more. It’s a favorite with the kids, too, and everyone loves when they hear that we’re having chicken & potatoes for dinner. {Note: I double the recipe every time, and it always turns out great! Also, I’ve tried it with other seasonings besides the Onion & Herb blend. Most work really well. Ashley likes it best with the Italian Blend, and hubby likes it best with the Garlic & Herb blend. I just like it.}

Hello Kitty Lighted Makeup Mirror {Review}

Lucy, my 5 year old, is a huge fan of Hello Kitty. So, when Sparkle Bee contacted me and asked if we’d like to review one of their Hello Kitty products, I jumped at the chance. I knew it would make Lucy’s entire day.

hello kitty lighted makeup mirrorWe ended up receiving the Lighted Makeup Mirror. What it hit it has been! Lucy loves pretending to put on her make up in the mirror. She’ll sit in front of the mirror for the longest time and primp: brushing her hair, pretending to put make up on, or just talking to her beautiful reflection in the mirror.

Even Parker can’t get enough of the mirror. He’ll go in Ashley and Lucy’s room, shut the lights off, turn on the mirror, and make funny faces.  He cracks himself up, and we all get the biggest kick out of watching him do it.

Here are some of the features of the mirror:

  • Round 2-sided magnifying mirror that rotates to go from a regular mirror to a magnifying mirror at 5x magnification.
  • Illuminated border can be tilted at an angle for convenience. {Perfect if you’re short or tall!}
  • The swivel feature lets you control your view.
  • Adorable “Hello Kitty” doll on/off button. {My favorite feature.}
  • Works with 4 AA batteries or 120V AC adapter. {Neither are included.}

We put in the cheap Rayovac “Heavy Duty” batteries, and I can’t believe how long they’ve lasted, especially with so much use. The pack cost us less than $1.00 at Walmart, and we’ve gotten tons of play time with the mirror because of them. I do love that you have the option to plug it in, though. We go through millions of batteries in this house, and having the option to plug something in saves us lots of money.

parker in the mirrorThe Hello Kitty Lighted Makeup Mirror makes the perfect gift for any girl. While the box recommend that it not be used by children 12 and under, I have to disagree. I think that this mirror is suited better for the younger crowd. I’ve only seen my 14 year old use the mirror once or twice since we’ve had it. Granted, Ashley still doesn’t wear make up, but I honestly don’t know if she’d use the mirror if she did. She’s “too old” for Hello Kitty stuff. {Which surprises me, because I’m really old and I’d totally use the mirror if I could get it away from Lucy long enough.} But, the mirror is such a hit with my younger daughter, that if we didn’t already own it, I would have purchased it for her as a birthday or Christmas gift. She uses it all the time, and it’s worth the money for the smiles she gets on her face every time she uses it.

Lucy was up here when I was browsing the Sparklebee website and asked if she could have all of the products, just because they match her mirror. 🙂 I’m in big trouble with this girl!

If you’d like to purchase the Hello Kitty Lighted Makeup Mirror for someone you love, I’ve found it at the following places online:

Also, Check out SparkleBee – they’ve got some really great products avalable. You can find them on the SparkleBee website, on the SparkleBee Facebook page, and you can follow SparkleBee on twitter.

Can You Make Money with Your Blog?

I’ve been blogging since 2005. While I haven’t made enough money to allow my husband to quit his job, I do make enough to help supplement some kind of income.

I’m going share some of the legitimate ways I’ve found online to help you make money with your blog.money sign

  • Business to Blogger:  I love this site. They send paid blogging opps to your inbox each week, and you apply for them. I’ve been accepted into several programs and they have all be well-paying jobs. Don’t expect to get accepted into every opp, though, because you won’t be.
  • CleverGirls Network:  I’ve only worked with them once, but I was paid a good bit of money for just that one post. Totally worth it just to join.
  • Social Spark:  I still do quite a bit with them.  You earn points now for posts, and each post averages about 1,000 – 1,500 points. There’s a $2 fee if you cash out before you reach 5,000 points (which is only 4 – 5 posts).
  • Escalate Network:  This is an affiliate opportunity. Lots and lots of bloggers – big and small – use this, and you only have to earn $25 to cash out, which is totally easy to do.
  • QuestionMoms: Get paid to take surveys. Easy to join, surveys aren’t long and annoying. Adds up quick.
  • Crowdtap: You can earn money for yourself and give to charity at the same time. In less than 15 minutes, I had over 2,500 points. I’m still learning how it works, but it’s been fun so far.
  • Swagbucks: If you haven’t joined, what are you waiting for? You can earn gift cards to your favorite places quickly and easily. I can’t believe how fast points add up!
  • Sponsored Tweets: I love Sponsored Tweets. You can earn real money quick and easily just by using your twitter account. {Owned by the same people that own Social Spark.}
  • Google Affiliate Network: I really need to do more with them, because they have so many advertisers available. Adds up fast too!
  • Amazon Affiliate Program: Easy peasy. Talk about a product on your blog that’s available on amazon, and leave your amazon link to earn money.
  • ShopSquad: There are so many ways to earn money with ShopSquad, and it adds up fast. {Plus, you only have to get to $10 to cash out.} Just recommend products online, and when someone purchases that item, you get the commission.
  • ShadowShopper: You have to pay {$5} to upgrade to a Gold Membership to be able to apply for positions, but there are tons and tons of positions available. Even in my dinky little town, I get at least 3 opportunities sent my way every other day, and they’re all paid mystery shopper jobs.
  • Blogvertise: This was recommended by Melissa of A Mom from the Burbs. Here’s what she says: ” It’s FREE to sign up. I’ve made $10-$20 per post and have been paid via PayPal. They payout after 30days but assignments are kind of slow to come in. Since joining last year, I’ve made a total of $95.

The following are recommended by Meagan of Sunshine & Sippy Cups:

  • Mom Central{I cannot believe I forgot to share MomCentral with you all! Duh! I adore MomCentral. I work with them all the time, and that’s how I end up purchasing most of my kids birthday/Christmas gifts is from the gift cards I earn by working with Mom Central. If you haven’t joined yet, do it now! ~Angie}

Those are most of the legitimate ways I’ve found online to earn money. If you have another opportunity you’d like to share, let me know. I’ll gladly edit the post and include your affiliate link to the program. I will also include a link back to your blog if you give me another program to add to this list. Just use the contact form to email me directly.

I will continue to edit and update this post as more opportunities are made known to me.

Happy earning!

Make it Fresh with Febreze Set & Refresh {Review}

My downstairs bathroom is my least favorite room in the house. Ashley, Zander, Jace, Lucy, and Parker all share the bathroom, and no matter how much I scrub and clean, I cannot keep that little bathroom smelling clean and fresh for more than 10 seconds. I scrub that bathroom at least once a day, and it’s just not enough.

febreze set and refreshYou can only imagine how thrilled I was to be selected for the Febreze Set & Refresh / Mom Central Blog Tour. I would do anything to find some way to keep that bathroom smelling less like it’s used by 5 monkeys day in and day out and smelling more like it’s actually clean.

For the blog tour, I received the Linen & Sky cartridges for the Set & Fresh unit. I’ve got to say, it’s not my favorite scent, but it does smell clean – which is all that really matters to me. They do have several scents that I’m excited to try next including Hawaiian Aloha, Thai Dragon Fruit, Sweet Citrus & Zest, and the Advanced Odor Eliminator. {I’m definitely trying the Advanced Odor Eliminator next in their bathroom.}

As soon as I received the Set & Refresh unit, I opened up the package, popped the cartridge in the unit, and then pulled the unit open. Then, I just put the unit in the window sill of the bathroom. It was so easy to do. I love that there are no plugs, so it doesn’t take up the only outlet we have in the bathroom. There are also no batteries, so it wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg to keep that bathroom smelling fresh. It’s a convenient little unit that doesn’t take up much space and fits in perfectly with any type of decor.

A few minutes after I had set the unit out, I walked into the kitchen, and couldn’t believe how clean the bathroom smelled. {Interjecting: Yes, our bathroom is right off the kitchen. So not cool when 5 kids use that bathroom.} I had just cleaned the bathroom not an hour or so before, but it actually smelled clean – still – and all of the kids had been home using the bathroom. I was seriously impressed. I didn’t think I’d ever find anything that work in that little bathroom. I’m so glad the Febreze Set & Refresh unit proved me wrong!

To learn more about the Febreze Set & Refresh unit, check out the Febreze website. There you’ll find lots of helpful information, scent options, and so much more.

Thank you, Mom Central and Febreze for introducing me to the Set & Refresh unit. I’m certain any future guests to my home will be thanking you too.

Disclaimer: I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Febreze and received a Set & Refresh unit plus refills to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for taking the time to participate.

Happy 5th Birthday, Lulu!

It’s hard to believe that my baby girl, Lucy, is 5 years old today.

When we found out Lucy was on her way, my heart soared! I had prayed and prayed for another baby girl, and God had answered.

I had an incredibly difficult pregnancy with Lucy. She had a two-vessel cord, and there were so many complications because of it. She beat all the odds, though, and was born weighing a healthy 8 pounds 3 ounces. You’d never know to look at her how hard it was to get her here safely.

This has been a fun year for Lucy. We started a preschool curriculum here at home, and she’s doing great. She loves counting and drawing, and she’s trying so hard to write her name. It won’t be long before she’s got it down. This afternoon, she’ll open her presents which will consist of her first two-wheel bike.

I remember when Lucy was 2, she still had hardly any hair on her head at all. Just a few little spit curls. Amazing how long and gorgeous those few curls have become!

Lulu, I want you to know how proud I am of you. You are such a sweet and beautiful little girl, and I am so thankful that God picked me to be your mommy. I love you, honey. Keep being exactly who you are.

Prayers Needed for A Local Police Officer

On Thursday, a local county police officer was involved in an accident while responding to a call. (You can read an article here: Union County Deputy Injured in Wreck)

I don’t know many details, Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee and is still in critical condition. He has a wife and two children, {I hope that’s right. If I’m wrong, someone please let me know so I can fix it!}, and they could all certainly use your prayers right now.

Please take a moment to pray for Derrick Whittle and his family. I know they would really appreciate it.

If I receive any updates on his condition, I will update this post.

Thank you for your prayers!

Edited 9/18: I just got word that the officer mentioned above passed away. Please continue to keep the family in your prayers.

Am I A Rotten Egg?

Here’s my conversation with Parker this morning as we’re walking down the steps:

Parker: “If I’m the last one down, am I a rotten egg?”

Me: “No, honey, you’re not a rotten egg.”

Parker: “Then I’m not coming down the stairs!”

Me: “You want to be a rotten egg?”

Parker: “Yes.”

Me: “Ok. If you come down the steps, you’re the rotten egg.”

I have no idea when it became cool to be the rotten egg, but in Parker’s world it is.

Allow Me to Eat My Words…

Just recently I posted that I would be taking a break from blog designs.

Allow me to eat those words and retract my statement. Circumstances have drastically changed, and I am officially back to designing blogs and websites.

I am “not allowed” to discuss what happened, so please do not ask.  Believe me, if I could talk about it, I would. I need all the support I can get right now. But, I can’t. I must respect the wishes of the ones who asked me to stay quiet.

That being said, if you – or anyone you know – needs blog design work or any kind of website work done, please keep me in mind. I would really appreciate it.

I am looking forward to working with so many of you again. While I was looking forward to the break, I have met and made some amazing friends through my blog design business, and that’s always been one of my favorite perks of the job.

Thanks for putting up with me, and thanks for your continued support.
