30 Days of Giving Thanks: Day 13

Today, I am giving thanks for answered prayer.

30 Days of Giving ThanksAbout a year ago, I started a prayer journal. I left the first 10 pages or so blank so that I could write in new prayer requests, update old requests, and keep a log of what prayers the Lord has answered. Every morning, the first thing I do is grab my glasses, my Bible, and my prayer journal. I make updates and add new requests as needed, have a time of prayer, read my devotional book and my Bible, and then pray again, this time writing my prayer in my journal. I truly believe that prayer is the most powerful weapon we have in this world, and it’s our duty to be praying constantly.

As I post this, I’m flipping through my prayer journal. There are so many requests I’ve put in there that have been updated with the word **ANSWERED!** beside them and then an explanation of the answer God gave for that request. Sometimes, the updates are difficult. For years, I had been praying for a man in our church and his wife and his son. In the past year, he lost both of them to illnesses. But, so many times, there are reasons to rejoice. I have a friend that has had several miscarriages. Now, she’s carrying a baby, and everything looks great – after so many struggles and trials, she finally has a healthy, happy pregnancy.

If you aren’t making a note of the answers to prayer God is giving you, let me encourage you to do so. It’s so easy to get discouraged, but when I go through my prayer journal and read all the times God has put His hand on a situation, it helps remind me that Someone really cares and is in complete control.

Thank you, Lord, for the prayers you have answered and the prayers you will answer. It may not always be the answer I want, or in the time that I expect it in, but Your Way is perfect.

What are you thankful for today?

Prayer is very powerful. About six years ago, our youngest son started having seizures. It was such a scary time. So many people were actively praying for him and for us. It was definitely a comfort and made a difference to know that so many people had us in their thoughts.

I started an hourly appreciation practice this week. I am not a religious person who prays to God. I am a spiritual person who believes in the power of appreciation to spread love and joy in the world.

I love what you are doing and I am sure that your beliefs will be a powerful force in your life.

    Peace and Joy to you

That is wonderful, mama! I firmly believe in the power of prayer. I’ve never done a prayer journal, but I think it’s a fabulous idea. That would truly remind me of the Lord’s blessings to me, specifically. Hugs to you!
