An Update & A Thank You!

First of all, I want to thank every single one of you who left a comment here, twittered a reply, or just took the time to whisper a prayer for Cheyenne. It means so much.

I got to see Cheyenne tonight. We had our monthly Ladies Meeting at church, and Cheyenne came along with her older sister, Tracy. My heart just broke when I saw Cheyenne. She has burn marks all over her. The tops of her feet, the side of her leg, the front of her thigh, and her hand. It is truly unbelieveable that she’s even walking or out and about. If it were me, I would be lying in bed, suffering. But not Cheyenne. She actually expected to be able to play in this week’s soccer game! The girl is amazing!

Her hand is the worst. She showed me a picture (as it was all bandaged up tonight) and the skin just melted off her hand. She will definitely need to have a skin graft done on it. (Is that spelled right?) Her thigh is also in bad shape, as the shorts she was wearing just melted onto her skin. Most of her leg is black and blue. (Which is what color her shorts were.)

She’ll be meeting with a plastic surgeon tomorrow to discuss where and when. Hopefully they will get some real answers. So far no doctor seems to want to tell them “Ok, this is what we need to do, and this is how we’re going to do it.” They just keep getting the run around.

Please continue to keep the family in your prayers. Cheyenne is a strong girl, and I know she’s going to pull through this just fine. But, I also know that she’s in a lot of pain. I hate knowing that she’s hurting.

This was a horrible accident, but I know that God is able to heal this family – physically and emotionally. I appreciate all of your thoughts for them!

Thank you for the update, Angie and I will continue to keep Cheyenne in my prayers and good wishes. I’m a longtime RN and the MDs can do amazing things but they have to wait and see how she heals, make sure no infection, minimize scarring. Cheyenne’s youth and prompt medical treatment will really help her as will the support of dear friends like you. Take care.

Thank you for the update, sweetie. It makes my heart sad to think of any child in pain, but what a wonderful little girl to be so strong. We’ll keep her and her family in our prayers!
