An Update on My Friend…

In case you haven’t been by here before, last week, I asked for prayers for a very dear friend of mine. You see, at her ultrasound right before Christmas, she was told her baby most likely had Ventriculomegaly AND Hydrocephalus. It was very scary, and it was heartbreaking news for anyone to hear.

Yesterday, she had her Level 2 ultrasound to follow up. I prayed all day that things would go better than expected, and that things were not as bad as originally thought.

Then, I got this message:
“Caleb has been born into Heaven….no heartbeat found today on ultrasound. He is where no birth defect could ever harm him.”

My heart fell into my stomach. I didn’t understand it. Why would God take another baby from a woman who deserved it so much? I know she already loved that baby more than words could ever express. Why would God allow her to suffer through so much pain?

No, it’s not my place to question God. He has a plan, and He is faithful. But, I’m human. I don’t want to see my friend hurting like this.

She has an appointment tomorrow (today? I’m not sure because of the time zone difference) to see if they will do a D&E or if they will allow her to go naturally. If she goes naturally, she could hemorrhage because of the placenta previa. It all just seems like so much for one family to take on.

Please continue to pray for my sweet friend. She needs your prayers now more than ever. And if you could, leave a comment here and let her know that you’re praying for her. She may not be ready to read them yet, but some day the comments here will come to be quite special to her.

Before I close, I want to leave you with a song that has become so special to me. I can’t find it online anywhere, just the words, but I hope they help uplift my friend, as well as anyone else who may be suffering today:

There is Hope

1st Verse: “Sometimes we go through trials that are so hard to bear,
We lift our face toward Heaven saying, ‘God, are you really there?’
I’ve asked that same question; yes, I’ve been down that road.

But looking back, I now can tell you, He’s alwys let me know…

Chorus: There is hope, so be strong, there is hope.
God has sent me here to tell you there is hope.
And he knows just what you’re going through and what the future holds.

Because Jesus lives, there is hope!

2nd Verse: He was bruised for our transgression, He was nailed upon the tree.
He cried out to His Father, ‘Why have you forsaken me?’
But, through my suffering Savior, He brought healing to our pain,

And the One who raised up from the dead can restore us all again.

(chorus again) add…

There is hope, there is hope. My Jesus still whispers, ‘There is hope.”
For the One who has gone astray, Jesus says ‘I am the way.’
Do don’t give up, there is hope!
And He knows just what you’re going through, and what the future holds.
Because Jesus lives (echo) Because Jesus lives,
So don’t give up, there is hope!

Words found here.

If you’d like to hear a preview of the song, or purchase it for just 99 cents, a friend of mine found it available here. It’s #5 on the list. Thank you, Lori for sending me the link!

This is so very sad…I know that we are not supposed to second guess God, but I also know that we are human and humans have emotions. I will keep your friend in my prayers ♥ xoxox

Like the words to the song too! Thanks for sharing.

  8. 8

There are probably no words that would comfort your friend during this time. Fortunately, God is right there with her, going through it with her and her family. I’ll be praying for God’s peace that passes all understanding to envelop her!

  9. 9

Sending prayers for your friend and also for you.

I am so very sorry to hear of your friend’s loss. When she’s ready, maybe suggest she do something to help her remember Caleb. We had a miscarriage 7 years ago and I got my ear pierced with an amethyst stud, since the baby was due in February. Other families have planted trees or special gardens…

    Sending prayers for her,

So sorry to hear about your friend, We had a woman in our town also lost a baby to Hydrocephalus, she was born and deeply loved for 18 amazing months. The parents & town set up a memorial for her and all parents who have lost a child called “Angel of Hope” each brick represents a child, Its very sweet. I always pray for those families and will do so for your friend.

I am so saddened to read of your friends loss, mainly because I myself was born wiIth Hydrocephalus almost 32 years ago, was hospitalised for the first few weeks of my life and have survived multiple operations. I’m not a Christian but I do offer my good wishes towards them and hope that she may some day give birth to a healthy baby.

This brought tears to my eyes and my heart fell, too. I’m so sorry for your friend and will be praying for her. ♥

    Mickey Coutts says:

I am so sad for your friend. I had a couple of early miscarriages and can’t even imagine how hard it must have been for her to get as far as she did, loving that baby and hoping it would be OK. She and her loved ones are in my prayers.

  16. 16

Oh I tried to get on here earlier today but it wouldn’t pull up for me. I am so so sorry for your friend. Losing a child is so hard, no matter when it happens. I have them in my prayers.

  17. 17

You are in my prayers. I lost a child once and thought that my husband and I would never have another, at the time it was so devastating. Since then, we have had three more children ( we already had one). There is hope. It is all in His time.

  18. 18

Words cannot express. I am so sorry!! My prayers are with her & her family as well.

  19. 19

I’ve said a prayer for your friend. May God be with her to help her in this time.

  20. 20

Prayers for her and her family. It’s never easy and it really is hard not to question but some things are just not for us to know. Last year on January 4th, my Son and his girlfriend lost their baby. She was not far along but it was still a child. We just have to know God has a different purpose for our little angels and rest assured that, when the time is right, he will bless us with a beautiful bundle. Hugs!
