August 31st

This afternoon, we went up to Granny & Pa’s to spend some time with Kim & Aaron before they headed back to the city for awhile.

While we were there, G-ma gave the boys some bird things that fly. I don’t know how to explain them. It’s like an airplane kit that you put together, only they’re birds and not planes. Whatever.

Jace picked the toucan, and Zander picked the parrot.

Once we were home, I told the boys they could fly their birds outside. While we were out there, Jace and I had the following conversation:

JJ: Mom? Why do they call it a peacock? (Talking about his bird/plane)
Me: It’s not a peacock, honey. It’s a toucan.
JJ: Oh. Well, why do they call it a toucan?
Me: I don’t know, honey. Someone just decided it looked like a toucan, and the name stuck.
JJ: Oh. I think they’re wrong, though. It makes a better peacock than toucan. How do I get them to change the name?
Me: We have to figure out who “they” are first.
JJ: Oh. Ok. I’ll work on that tomorrow.
