Bissell’s Little Green and the Stain Solver App (Review)

If you’ve got kids, you know they’re messy. Sometimes the mess just seems to radiate from them. And it’s not just kids who make the mess, either. I am notorious for spilling my soda all over the carpet.

Now, Bissell is helping to curb those messes a little easier with their new Stain Solver App and their Little Green compact, multi-purpose deep cleaner. Before I get to my review of this product and service from Bissell, here’s a bit about their company:

A 133-year-old company, Michigan-based BISSELL Homecare, Inc., is a floor-care innovator and international manufacturer of home-cleaning products, including sweepers, vacuums, deep-cleaning machines and cleaning formulas sold at retail locations worldwide. The company, in its fourth generation of family leadership, is the leading floor care appliance brand in North America.

My Review of the Stain Solver App & the Little Green
I was contacted by BISSELL Homecare, Inc., and asked to test out their new Stain Solver App as well as their Little Green Deep Cleaner. I couldn’t wait to put them both through the 5 Vinez Monkeys test.

The Stain Solver App is free, and available on itunes. This app is fantastic to have on hand! I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I’ve used it in the past few weeks. There are 3 ways to use the App:

  1. Their handy stain guide, where you can search for the type of stain you want to remove and find a quick and easy solution.
  2. Before & After pictures – upload your own before and after pictures and share them with your friends.
  3. The “Brag on My Bissell” function links to facebook and twitter to share your successes with your friends.

The stain guide has become my new best friend, and my most-often-used app. Searching for your stain removing solution couldn’t be easier. They are all easy to find by category, type, and method. The first day I downloaded the app, Parker decided to spill his fruit juice all over my living room floor. I selected the “Beverage” category, selected “Fruit Juice” as the type, and selected “Non-Bissell” as my method. (I hadn’t yet received the Little Green to help with the stain removal.) There were 8 steps to removing the fruit juice, and each step was easy to follow and understand. In no time, you couldn’t even tell that Parker had spilled juice all over the floor. And from that moment on, I knew this was going to be an app that I would use all the time.

The Little Green arrived at my house the day before my birthday. Talk about the best birthday present ever! I couldn’t wait to put it to the test, and it wasn’t long before I got the chance.

As an afternoon snack for the kids, I made a couple of pizza rolls. I rarely allow the kids to eat in the living room, but they had been really good all day. UGH. In just minutes, I had smashed pizza rolls all over my carpet.

I quickly grabbed my iPhone and turned to the Stain Guide. While “pizza” wasn’t an option, I selected “Tomato Pasta” because it’s kind of the same thing. I followed the instructions, step by step, and substituted the “Little Green Advanced Formula” for the formulas recommended, and put my new Little Green to work. I couldn’t believe how well it removed all traces of the pizza rolls from my carpet! I was truly blown away.

I decided to test out the Little Green on several set-in stains, and again, it didn’t let me down. After pre-treating for just a few minutes, the stains came up and you couldn’t even tell there had been any stains there to begin with.

There are several things about the Little Green that I just love. First, it’s lightweight and compact, so I can use it anywhere I need to: on the carpet, the furniture, even in the car. Plus, it stores easily in my closet. Secondly, it is *super* easy to use. Fill the tank with the recommended solvent and hot water, turn it on, pull the trigger, and go. That’s it. To pre-treat, just aim and pull the trigger. Then, use the attached brush to rub out the stain. And lastly, the Little Green is environmentally friendly: it’s made with a minimum of 50% post consumer recycled plastic with PVC tanks and hose.

All in all, I would highly recommend the Little Green to any household – whether you have kids, pets, or a tendency to spill things yourself. It’s made a great new addition to our house, and is a product I will use over and over again. And at just $79.99, it’s definitely affordable, and worth every penny.

The Little Green is available for purchase online at websites by Kohl’s, Wal*mart, Amazon, K-Mart, Sears, and several others. You can also find it at many local retailers. Just head to the Little Green page of the Bissell website and do a search for a retailer near you. (You can also purchase directly from the Bissell website.)

Also, be sure to follow Bissell on twitter and become a fan of Bissell on Facebook for the latest news, products, specials, stain-solving solutions, and more!
