Follow Friday: Week 36

Kindred Spirit MommyI know, I know. It’s been WAAAAY too long since I’ve done a Follow Friday post. I’m so sorry! It seems to be the story of my life lately that I’m behind on everything. I’ve got to get my act together before March, that’s for sure!

Anyway, let’s get back to the real reason behind this post: to spotlight a super-fabulous blog that you need to check out and then follow!

Today, I’m going to spotlight one of my absolute favorite blogs. I recently found her, can’t even remember how, but I am so glad I did!

Kindred Spirit MommyThe blog I’m talking about is Kindred Spirit Mommy. Lindsey is the author behind the blog, and she’s pregnant with her second baby – a boy this time. (She already has a gorgeous little girl named Emma.) Lindsey and I have really hit it off, and although I’ve never even met her, I feel like I’ve known her forever. Maybe it’s because we’re both pregnant and hormonal. Maybe it’s because we have so much in common. Maybe it’s because I know she believes the same way I do. Or maybe it’s because we’re just kindred spirits.
<

I hope you’ll take some time and swing by Lindsey’s blog, Kindred Spirit Mommy. She has **tons** of super fabulous giveaways going on right now, along with posts on crafts, and so much more! And if you’re a pregnant mom to be, you will definitely want to check out her blog, because she’s got a fantastic baby event going on right now to celebrate the impending birth of her baby boy.

Lindsey, I am so glad I found you and your blog. You’ve been such a support to me, keeping me calm, and trying not to let me get too excited about certain surprises! 🙂 You are truly a blessing to so many, and I’d be honored if you’d put this button on your blog:

Is there a blog that you think deserves to be followed? Leave a link here, and I’ll consider featuring it in a future segment of Follow Friday. (Be sure to leave a comment and tell me why you think it’s “Follow Worthy.”)

Follow Friday: Week 35

Real Heart PrintsThis week, I want to introduce you to Real Heart Prints. Here’s a little bit about Mel, the author, and her blog:

I am a child of God; as a believer in Christ, I hope to inspire and encourage others along the way, especially other wives and mothers. We have a hefty responsibility on our shoulders, as we are shaping tiny hearts for a future of, hopefully, serving the Lord.

Real Heart Prints is a blog about a variety of topics, mainly within the realm of womanhood/mommyhood. You”ll find posts about life in general, homeschooling, marriage, raising children, cooking/recipes, home decor, hobbies/crafting, reviews, giveaways, funny tidbits, etc. Every week, I feature a different organization who is truly making a difference, in my Shine Your Light series; the series highlights not only the organization but also ways that you and I can get involved. I also have Time Out Tuesdays, in which I feature some of my favorite blog posts around the blogosphere, as well as provide a giveaway link-up.

Mel is an amazing mom and writer. I love her yummy recipes, (check out this one for Blackberry Cobbler – YUM!), her Shine Your Light posts on Wednesdays, and that she just keeps it real.

I always enjoy stopping by Real Heart Prints and seeing what’s on the heart of Mel. I hope you’ll do the same and stop by her blog today to become her newest follower. I know she’d appreciate it, and I know you’ll get a blessing from every visit.

Mel, thanks for such a great blog, and for all the inspiration you give to so many of us. You are truly amazing. I’d love for you to have this button, if you feel so inclined:

Is there a blog that you think deserves to be followed? Leave a link here, and I’ll consider featuring it in a future segment of Follow Friday. (Be sure to leave a comment and tell me why you think it’s “Follow Worthy.”)

Follow Friday: Week 34

Many of you know I have this desire to learn to sew and create that way. As it stands, I am terrible at it. I’m talking really bad. Give me a computer and a mouse and I can create until the cows come home. Give me a needle and thread, and the creativity just kind of stops cold.

But, that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the blogs where the authors can create by sewing. In fact, I just can’t get enough of browsing the web looking for new items these amazing women come up with. And one such blog that is my absolute favorite is Grosgrain.

Wow, wow, wow. I can’t even begin to tell you how much this designer impresses me. She offers great giveaways (go check out the Modern Bird Studios Guest Giveaway she has going on right now!), tips on turning a thrift store find into a million bucks, and DANG! She is GORGEOUS! She just turned 32 last week too, but she’s still looking quite fabulous! (I’m green with jealousy!)

If you aren’t following the Grosgrain blog, you need to be. Really! Don’t miss out on this one. You never know what you’ll find over there, but I can promise that you will be impressed.

Kathleen, thanks for such a great blog, and for all the inspiration you give to so many of us.

Follow Friday: Week 33

Rockin' DealsHead on over to Rockin’ Deals…. this week’s Follow Worthy Blog pick. Written by mom, Amy, she says the main goal of her blog is “to help everyone save money by finding great deals, freebies or even transform their current shopping/spending habits.”

First of all, I *love* that her blog is pink. And she has a son named Jace. :o) But, most importantly, I love the mission behind her blog as well as the way she executes it. Her posts are fun and easy to read, and she also has giveaways, tells you where to get the best coupons and samples, and so much more. (I love the post on making homemade doughnuts – YUM!!! )

Here’s a little bit of what Amy has to say on her “About Me” page:

Couponing should NOT be frowned upon! I want to show everyone… especially the younger generation that saving money and using coupons is Rockin’!

Being smart with your money doesn’t mean missing out. You can spend your money on quality products and test out products by getting free samples. Having fun is important too!

So what are you waiting for? Become a follower of Rockin’ Deals today!

Amy, thanks for such a Rockin’ blog! If you feel so inclined, I’d love to have you place this button on your blog:

Is there a blog that you think deserves to be followed? Leave a link here, and I’ll consider featuring it in a future segment of Follow Friday. (Be sure to leave a comment and tell me why you think it’s “Follow Worthy.”)

Follow Friday: Week 32

This week, I want you all to head over and follow the Yoursphere for Parents Blog. Written by Mary Kay, the mastermind behind Yoursphere, this blog gives parents the information and tools they need to help put their child’s online and social networking safety first. It’s about time we found something like this on the web, right?

Here’s some information about Mary Kay, taken from the Yoursphere for Parent’s site:

Mary Kay Hoal is a married mother of five children (both biological and adopted) ranging in age from 6 to 19 years of age. She is an accomplished media professional who took it upon herself to leave a successful career and take action to make safety and privacy a key priority for children online. She founded her own company, Yoursphere Media Inc., and launched Yoursphere.com and YoursphereForParents.

Originally motivated by the concern that registered sex offenders plague social networks and have access to children, after immersing herself in numerous online communities, Mary Kay found that many sites didn’t abide by the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), nor did they leverage all the wonderful benefits of the Internet and social media: the connectivity, the creativity, the education, the fun. Instead, she found that children were exposed to content, people, and a culture that was of deep concern and left little regard for a child’s safety, privacy and their well-being.

Mary Kay knew there were other parents like herself that wanted something better for their children and that every child deserves to have access to the best the Internet and social media has to offer them.

As you can tell, Mary Kay is passionate about keeping kids safe online. That is something that is so important to me, considering the experience I had years ago.

Even if you don’t have kids that you have to worry about online, the Yoursphere for Parents Blog is still an excellent resource for keeping your own information safe and secure. It’s chock full of tons of information that everyone needs to know – no matter what their age. (Parents – also make sure you check out the monthly parent’s newsletter for even more information.)

If you’re concerned about online safety – whether it’s your child’s or your own, head on over to the Yoursphere for Parents Blog and subscribe. Or, add them to your blogroll and then check in often. (Be sure to leave them a comment and let them know how you found them!) Then, head back here and leave a link to a blog you love, or check out the links others have posted and leave your pick in the comments.

Mary Kay, thank you so much for Yoursphere and everything it stands for. I love that I don’t have to worry about what Ashley is exposed to when she logs into your website. And thank you for the parent’s blog. The information is so helpful to parents who may not understand just how dangerous the internet can be.

Is there a blog that you think deserves to be followed? Leave a link here, and I’ll consider featuring it in a future segment of Follow Friday. (Be sure to leave a comment and tell me why you think it’s “Follow Worthy.”)

Disclaimer: While I am participating in the Yoursphere Test Drive program by Mom Central on behalf of Yoursphere, and I received a free lifetime Gold membership on Yoursphere.com, Yoursphere t-shirts, and a $50 American Express gift card to facilitate my review of the website, I have selected the Yoursphere for Parents Blog as my follow worthy blog of the week because I feel it is full of important information that parents (and grown ups and kids!) need to be aware of.

Follow Friday: Week 31

My Follow Friday pick for this week is Parenting Pink. If you have one daughter or 10 daughters, you need to follow this blog, subscribe to this blog, heck, just get over there and read

Elizabeth, thank you so much for the Parenting Pink blog. I can’t even begin to tell you how much I have learned from it. My girls benefit every day from the information I find on your site. You are encouraging, uplifting, and truly a pleasure to know and read. I’d be honored if you’d put this on your blog:

Is there a blog that you think deserves to be followed? Leave a link here, and I’ll consider featuring it in a future segment of Follow Friday. (Be sure to leave a comment and tell me why you think it’s “Follow Worthy.”)

Follow Friday: Week 30

This week, I want you to check out “Be It Ever So Humble” – my follow-worthy blog pick.

Here’s just a bit about the author, Mrs. Mordecai:

I’m a reader, writer, violinist, cookie baker, and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I’m wife to Mr. Mordecai and mother to three-year-old Red Chief and baby Tiger Lily.

I checked out Mrs. Mordecai’s blog upon a recommendation from a very good friend and reader here at 5 Vinez Monkeys. (Thanks, Danielle!) All I can say is WOW. I am quite impressed with this blog. Mrs. Mordecai is an excellent writer, and offers tons of really great tips, recipes, “how-to”s, and so much more. I’ve become a regular reader, and I’ve been reading all of her old posts while she’s away on her trip. I can’t wait for her to come back so I can read what else she has to say.

If you’re looking for a great new blog to follow, head on over to Be It Ever So Humble and become a follower. Then, head back there often to leave your links or check out the featured sites.

Mrs. Mordecai, thank you for investing all the time and talent you have and putting it on your blog. It is so appreciated. I’d be honored if you’d put this on your blog:

Is there a blog that you think deserves to be followed? Leave a link here, and I’ll consider featuring it in a future segment of Follow Friday. (Be sure to leave a comment and tell me why you think it’s “Follow Worthy.”)

Follow Friday: Week 29

This week, I’ve selected “Women Living Well” as my follow-worthy blog.

Courtney, the author of Women Living Well says that others should follow her blog for the following reasons:

1. I hope that I can introduce others to God’s word and the discipline of being in it daily – it’s delectable!

2. You may find a few good marriage pointers – and statistics say – we need some marriage help – cause divorce is on the rise!

I’ve actually been reading Courtney’s blog for awhile now, after finding her during the Ultimate Blog Party on 5 Minutes for Mom this year. She definitely has a follow-worthy blog, and it’s one that every Christian wife, mother, grandmother, or woman should check out and read often. Her marriage tips are wonderful, and after reading just one post, you’ll see that she truly has a heart that is all out for God.

Head on over to Women Living Well and become a follower. Then, head back there often to leave your links or check out the featured sites.

Courtney, thank you for the time and effort you put into your blog. It does not go unnoticed, and in today’s world, it’s exactly what we need. Thank you for your encouragement, your talent, and your love for our Savior. You make it contagious, and your blog makes me want to be a better wife and mother. I’d be honored if you’d put this on your blog:

Is there a blog that you think deserves to be followed? Leave a link here, and I’ll consider featuring it in a future segment of Follow Friday. (Be sure to leave a comment and tell me why you think it’s “Follow Worthy.”)

Follow Friday: New Rules

Follow Worthy BlogDid you notice that I’ve changed up Follow Fridays a bit? Last week, instead of having you leave a link to your Follow Friday picks, I asked you to leave a link that you feel is “follow worthy.” Then, leave a comment on the post and tell me why you think that blog should be deemed that title.

I’ll then take some time to go through those links and one of those blogs will be featured here on 5 Vinez Monkeys!

It’s a fun, easy way to gain exposure for your blog – or a blog that you love to follow!

Now, leave your link here, and give me some fantastic blogs to check out. Remember to leave a comment and tell me why I should check out that blog.

Follow Friday: Week 28

I love finding new websites that have a real purpose. This week, I want to introduce you to FeatureMe.net. It’s a fabulous new blog where you can….. get this: be featured.

Here’s the description you can find on FeatureMe.net:

Feature Me is a site dedicated to showcasing women’s blogs, etsy stores and websites. Display your site for free and you may be chosen to be one of the featured sites!

Sounds simple enough, right? On Mondays, stop by and list your blog. It’s easy to do, just head to leave a link to your blog and a short description of it in the comments section on that day’s post. On Wednesday, leave a link to your etsy shop. On Friday, leave a link to your website. So easy, and you might just end up being the featured site on Tuesday or Thursday!

Head on over to FeatureMe.net and become a follower. Then, head back there often to leave your links or check out the featured sites.

And to the author of FeatureMe.net, You’re always so kind to give awards to others, that I wanted to give you an award. I’d be honored if you’d put this on your blog:

Is there a blog that you think deserves to be followed? Leave a link here, and I’ll consider featuring it in a future segment of Follow Friday. (Be sure to leave a comment and tell me why you think it’s “Follow Worthy.”)

Follow Friday: Week 27

Fab Find FoodieThis week, I want to introduce you to Angela of “Fab Find Foodie.” New to the blogging world, Angela’s blog has really skyrocketed. I never would have guessed that her blog has only bee around since December. She’s like an old pro at blogging.

Aside from having a super-cool name, (because anyone named Angela is cool in my book), she also has a super-cool blog. This is not your typical “Mom Blog” though. Her blog is all about the kitchen – food and drink, gadgets, recipes – you name it, she’s got it. Along with really fabulous reviews and giveaways.

Now, you all know how much I love the kitchen. (Note: Sarcasm) The fact that I set my oven on fire last Thursday, and then proceeded to catch my microwave on fire two days ago tells you how much time I should really spend in the kitchen. Cooking is not my forte. Obviously. But, it is something that I would love to learn (if I don’t kill us all in the process), and I’m always looking for blogs that give me tips, tricks, and gadgets to make my time in the kitchen easier. (Because, Lord knows, I need all the help I can get!)

So, if you’re looking for a fun, new, totally cool blog, stop by Fab Find Foodie today and become a follower. Take some time to check out her reviews and giveaways, and get to know her in the process.

Angela, I have had so much fun getting to know you and reading your blog over the last few days. You are so sweet, and so hysterical! Thanks for making me smile. 🙂 I’d love to have you post this on your blog, if you’d like:

Here’s how Shelly describes herself:

I am an avid reader who enjoys reading authors like Karen Kingsbury, Kristin Billerbeck, Laura Jensen Walker, Camy Tang, and Judy Baer. I also love anything Jane Austen related. I enjoy watching movies, cuddling on the couch with my hubby, playing in the park with my son, and working from home on our Ebay store.

Super Mom Sanctuary This week, I want to invite you to check out a new blog that I’ve started. It’s called “Super Mom Sanctuary” and our tagline is “A place for moms just trying to live for Jesus.”

Here’s a little more about Super Mom Sanctuary:

Created by a Christian mom of 5, Super Mom Sanctuary was started as a place to bring rest and refuge to other Christian moms. Life can be overwhelming. Here at Super Mom Sanctuary, you can put the worries and stresses of life aside and focus on rejuvenating your heart and soul. Our goal is to help you build a real relationship with Christ and to really understand that we “can do all things through Christ.” (Philippians 4:13)

On the Super Mom Sanctuary website, you can find Bible Studies to encourage and uplift you, discussions on parenting in today’s world, topic discussions on building and strengthening your marriage and other relationships, and product reviews and giveaways to encourage you and help you rejuvenate.

You can also submit a prayer request and take a moment to pray for those mentioned. And, there’s even a way for you to submit a topic request that you’d like to see discussed on Super Mom Sanctuary.

I know that life is tough. I spend many days and nights praying to just make it through the next 5 minutes. But, no matter how tough life gets, I need to remember to keep my focus on my Savior.

I would love to have you stop by Super Mom Sanctuary and become a follower. And be sure to stop by often. In the next few weeks, we’ll be hosting giveaways and even starting a forum.

My prayer is that you will be encouraged just through stopping by.

If you’re participating in Follow Friday, you are welcome to grab this button and share it with the blog you’re recommending this week:

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love to make things. Whether it’s hair bows for baby girls, jewelry for my tween and her friends, or stuffed animals for my kids, I love to pull out my “stash” and get to work.

I am constantly scouring the internet, and mom bloggers who share my passion for creating handmade items. This week, I stumbled across a fabulous little blog, and I’m declaring Creative Little Daisy as this week’s follow worthy blog.

Not only are her photos beautiful, but her crafting abilities are awe-inspiring. (Check out this post on a wreath that she made. Gorgeous!) And she doesn’t just leave you hanging, either. In all of her posts, she either walks you through step by step (like she did with these beautiful handmade pillows), or she gives the link to find directions to make the items. That means you’re not sitting there for hours trying to figure out how in the world she made it. I *love* that! And if you’re really feeling crafty, you can check out her fabulous section of tutorials. I can’t wait to try out her tutorial for making a purse. I might end up with a new obsession on my hands.

Stop by Creative Little Daisy and get your creating caps on. I know I’ll be stopping by often to see what fun new ideas she comes up with, and I hope you’ll visit her, too!

To the author of Creative Little Daisy, thank you for taking the time to post and give all of us decorating – and crafting! – ideas and tutorials. They are certainly appreciated! Feel free to place this badge on your blog if you’d like:

Sometimes, as moms, we feel an overwhelming burden to take care of our families and keep everything under control. If you’re like me, you don’t like to ask for help, and you may be afraid to post something on your blog for fear that someone may think you are just looking for sympathy (or maybe more), when all you really want is someone to pray for you.

This week, I want to introduce you to Blogging Moms Anonymous.

Blogging Moms Anonymous is a sister site of Moms United in Business, LLC. Blogging Moms Anonymous offers a safe and supportive avenue to submit prayer requests, with an option of doing so anonymously. Some trials in life are so deeply personal, that we often shy from reaching out to others. If you are curious about how this blog came to be, read about it here.

Blogging Moms AnonymousOn Blogging Moms Anonymous, you have the freedom to share the truth of who you have been, where you are now, and encouragement for your future. No problems are too big or too small to share with others to be lifted up in prayer. No matter where you are in life right now, whether you are a new Christian, desire to accept Christ and ask Him into your heart, or have been a follower your entire life; no matter what trials and obstacles you are facing, you are safe here among sisters that have the desire to pray for you, to support you and to love you.

While I don’t expect this button to be put on the BMA blog, I wanted to make certain that my readers knew about this wonderful resource. If you have a need – no matter how big or small – I hope that you will feel safe in sharing your requests anonymously and know that many people will be praying for you.

Be sure to follow Blogging Moms Anonymous today. You can bless someone else by praying for them, or maybe get a blessing yourself by submitting a prayer request.

This week, I’d like to introduce you to Jen of Cheaper Than Therapy. I have had the opportunity to work with Jen on a professional basis, and I’ve formed a great friendship with her because of that. She is an absolute hoot! I’m really hoping that someday, somehow, I finally get to meet Jen in person, because I think we’d get along swimmingly!

First, she loves photography. Her work is beautiful. The first time I happened onto her blog, she had put up a post of vacation photos. The color in them was bright and vivid, and just absolutely breathtaking. I always love stopping by and seeing what new photos she has up.

Cheaper Than TherapyNext, she hosts some absolutely amazing reviews and giveaways on her other blog, The Mom Reviews.
