Wordless Wednesday: Santa’s Had a Bad Week

Hubby and I were walking through a local store. We happened to notice that Santa was in the storeroom. Only thing was, Santa’s head was on the ground beside him! Talk about a bad week!

Santa's Bad Day

None of the kids were with us when we saw Santa, so Hubby decided to show them the picture and tell them that’s what happens when Santa has to deal with too many bad kids.

SIGH.

The shepherd boy on the right is my Zander! This is a local county newspaper, but he thought it was pretty cool that he made the front page. (Other children pictured are from our church: Lucy Long and Isaiah Gray.) Thanks to Ms. Betty for getting me a copy of this. I love it!

Wordless Wednesday: The Official Santa Picture

Merry Christmas!

My kids were a little apprehensive about sitting anywhere near Santa, but I was able to get them all in for what turned out to be a really great shot!

My mom thinks it’s just awful that I made my teenager sit with Santa, but since she’s one of my kids and has lots of younger brothers and sisters, I don’t see a problem with it. If you had a big spaced out family, would you make your teenager sit with Santa?

Wordless Wednesday: O Christmas Tree

I love putting up our Christmas tree every year. It’s my favorite part of the holiday. Each of the ornaments on the tree have special meaning as well, since they’re all ornaments that we’ve bought for the kids over the years.

Last year, we used a real tree. What a nightmare! The first one we got smelled like cat pee. The second one shed needles like crazy. I spent more time in tears last year over the stupid Christmas tree that I vowed we would *never* have another real tree… unless we had a porch to put it on. Well, we don’t have a porch, so one of the first things we bought with our hayneedle gift card was a pre-lit Christmas tree, and I just LOVE it! I could sit and stare at it all day and all night.

I know, I know. I can’t believe I’m talking about Christmas already! But, I wanted to get my act together early this year, and get my Christmas cards ordered and sent out on time. I’m usually so last minute!

After many, many tries, here is the official Christmas card picture for this year:

Wordless Wednesday: Halloween 5 Vinez Monkeys Style

Halloween 2010

I know – there are only 4 of my monkeys pictured. My oldest is at the age where dressing up is no longer “cool.” In fact, I can’t get her to let me take any pictures of her lately. It’s a total bummer.

We didn’t do much for Halloween. Went to a local church and played some games, but didn’t score much candy. So, I went across the street to Rite-Aid and bought $20 worth of candy, just so my kids didn’t feel totally gipped. I figure it’s cheaper than driving back to Ohio for the weekend.

By the way – I bought Parker’s monkey costume at Old Navy last year the day after Halloween for $1!!! Best deal I’ve ever scored on a costume!

No Wordless Wednesday Picture Today!

Photo came from here: Realm of Dreams

I was hoping to have some really, really big news to announce, but I still haven’t received 100% confirmation that it’s true. I found out about the possibility of it last Friday, but there hasn’t been another word since then. I am not a patient person, so this is driving me batty. (I’m quite certain the Lord is teaching me patience through all of this!)

So, I’m drawing a blank today. I’m sure I have other WW pictures I could share, but I’m tired and just not feeling well. So, it will have to wait until next week.

However, I still want to see YOUR Wordless Wednesday pictures, so share them here!

Wordless Wednesday: It’s A………..

BABY.

Ok, you knew that. I know. But, take a look at these 2 pictures. I’ve zoomed WAY in on 2 different shots (of the SAME baby). What do you think?

Girl?

Girl?

or…….

Boy?

Boy?

And, yes, that really is the same baby. No twins. No old u/s pictures. These were both taken within 10 minutes of each other yesterday.

I’m leaning toward boy, since there’s definitely something there, but hubby is holding out some hope that it may still be a girl and the cord just got in the way. I think it’s wishful thinking and that we’ll soon be trying to figure out how to put 4 boys in one room!

I’ve got lots of planning to do, but I’m anxious to see what the results are at our 20 week ultrasound on November 5th.

Winner of the Walmart Gift Card is coming soon!

Wordless Wednesday: Is It Just Me?

…. or does this baby actually look like a monkey in this picture?

the 6th Vinez Monkey

I know, I know. What a horrible thing for a mother to say. But, look at it. Doesn’t it look like a little tiny monkey in there? I think it’s hysterical.

The good news is, not all of the ultrasound pictures we had taken yesterday make the baby look like a monkey. In fact, in most of them, the baby looks more like an alien. 🙂

I’m so glad that ultrasounds aren’t an acurate depiction of what baby will look like, aren’t you? Otherwise, I really might have the “6th Vinez Monkey” on my hands!

Wordless Wednesday: Another Peek at the Baby

Yep, we got another look at Jelly Bean on Monday. (By the way, in case you haven’t guessed, this will be a “not-so-wordless” Wednesday post.)

I ended up in the ER on Sunday with severe cramping. I’m talking pain that had me doubled over in tears. It was nothing like I have ever experienced in pregnancy before. But maybe I should start at the beginning….

We went to church on Sunday morning. I wasn’t feeling great, but that’s nothing unusual. For some reason, I always feel horrible on Sundays. I think it’s Satan trying to keep me from church. Anyway, we got to church, and even arrived early for Sunday School. Before Sunday School starts, we always meet in the Sanctuary, sing a song, recognize birthdays and anniversaries, and then have a short devotional. I started feeling really icky during the congregational song, so I sat down. Then, as we started to sing Happy Birthday (to one of my favorite little girls!), it hit me…. I was gonna be SICK. I flew out of my pew and barely made it to the bathroom. Morning sickness had struck again, and this time it was bad. After I… well, you know, I started having these horrible cramps in my stomach. They were up high, so I assumed the baby was ok, but the pain was so bad that I couldn’t stand upright. After another visit with my head in the porcelain throne, I let a friend take my kids to my MIL’s house (with my MIL), and then my friend took me to the Emergency room. They put me in this room in the very back of the hospital all by myself. I was in so much pain, and I was scared to death. I couldn’t stop crying. About half an hour after I got to the hospital, hubby called to tell me he was on his way home. Thank God. I needed him so badly.

They ran all sorts of tests, took blood, and gave me lots of fluids. I was severely dehydrated upon arrival – probably because I’d brought up everything I’d already drunk that day, and hadn’t had the chance to try to get anything else down. They were able to find the heartbeat, and it sounded beautiful. 174 beats per minute. The doctor predicted a girl, but I’m not betting on that – Zander always had a super high heartbeat, and he’s definitely a boy.

Anyway, hubby arrived about an hour and a half later, and sat with me the rest of the time. We prayed together, and we left everything in God’s hands. A short while later, they informed me that I had a severe bacterial infection and was dehydrated. They sent me home with an antibiotic and an anti-nausea medicine. I was told to follow up with my doctor the next day.

On Monday, the doctor squeezed me in for an appointment. He did a quick check of my cervix (still long and closed) and a quick ultrasound of the baby. Everything looked just fine. Praise God. He said that the fact that I was throwing up so violently on Sunday was probably why I was cramping, but it may also have been heartburn. (Apparently sometimes heartburn can feel more like cramps than burning. Go figure.) He did another test, and guess what? No bacterial infection, so I didn’t even need the Rx for the antibiotic. He did recommend that I get the anti-nausea medicine filled in case I have another bout like I did on Sunday, and he also prescribed a prescription heartburn medicine to be taken only if I need it.

I’m just glad that everything turned out ok. It was really, really scary, but it helped to see the baby and know that he/she is ok.

Sorry for the not-so-wordless Wednesday. It’s been quite a week around here already!
