CoverMates Food Covers (Review)

Ahhhh…. Spring is here. And I’m hoping it’s to stay for awhile! And we all know what comes with Spring: Outdoor eating. At least that’s the case at my house. Picnic lunches, picnic dinners – it doesn’t matter. When the weather is nice, we’re outside all the time.

The one thing that I absolutely hate about eating outside is the risk of getting bugs or bird droppings (it’s happened!) in the food. Gross! But, how do you keep all the containers covered? Paper towels and napkins don’t work. They just blow away with the wind. And I don’t know about you, but I don’t have a lid for every single bowl I put out on the table. So, what’s a girl to do?

Let me introduce you to the CoverMate. The fantastic new – and reusable! – way to take your food from microwave, to table (outside, if you’d like!), to fridge, all in one super easy to use product.

Before I get to my review of the CoverMate, here’s some information about them:

The CoverMate Variety Pack contains four sizes of their versatile food covers that stretch-to-fit any size bowl, plate, platter, container or cup. The environmentally-friendly covers, which are made from heavy duty, clear FDA-compliant food-safe material free of BPA, PVC and latex, can be reused over and over as they are dishwasher safe. In addition, the covers include built-in corners for fitting both round and square dishware, and vents which allow steam to escape during microwave re-heating.
There is no need to dirty extra dishes and in seconds you can cover a plate and go straight from the microwave, to the table, to the refrigerator. CoverMate Food Covers keep food fresh and are great for both indoor and outdoor entertaining as they protect food from insects and dust.
My Review of CoverMate Food Covers
I was sent a variety pack of CoverMate food covers to get my honest and informed opinion. The variety pack contained 4 medium, 4 large, 2 extra large, and a bonus small can cover. I opened the package, and the first thing I thought was that they looked like shower caps! 🙂 They really do. But, I couldn’t wait to try them. I’m always warming up leftovers in the microwave, so it didn’t take long before I got to put them to good use.
There are several things that I just love about these products:
  1. They’re versatile – I can use them anywhere, and for anything. I can use them in the microwave, in the fridge, outside, even when transporting food from home to a special dinner at church, or taking cookies to Grandma’s house. I even used one on a bucket of crayons we have that is constantly getting knocked over. Now, when it falls over, the CoverMate cover keeps the crayons inside the bucket and off my floor!
  2. They come in different sizes – My cupboards look like a thrift-store shelf: mismatched dishes of all shapes and sizes, and containers with no lids out the wazoo. Before CoverMates, I was spending half our paycheck in aluminum foil and plastic wrap to keep those containers covered. Now, I just use the CoverMates!
  3. They’re reusable. I love, love, love that I can take them off a plate, pop them in the dishwasher and use them time and time again. I’ve washed a few of them several times over the last few days, and they look just like new. Great for the environment, great for my dishes, and great for my budget!

Overall, I am completely impressed with the CoverMate food covers, and can see myself using them for all my kitchen and entertaining needs!

DO NOT BUY COVERMATE COVERS FROM THEIR WEBSITE!!!! I placed an online order & I was to only be charged $3.99 for shipping. Well…..I was charged $41.67 & when I called the company to cancel my order I was told that I would have to wait 24-48 hours & call back, because the order had not even uploaded to the system yet. I called back the following day (less than 24 hours after the order was placed) & the order had already shipped!!!! They would not work with me at all. They told me that I would have to wait until I received the product and then return the item to them for a full refund. The lady I spoke with on the phone actually HUNG UP ON ME!!!
