Does Pregnancy = Destruction?

Earlier this week, I broke my glasses. They snapped right in half. Lulu had been “playing” with them, and bent them out of shape. As I was bending them back into shape, they completely broke. I’ve been wearing the same pair of “Focus Daily Wears” contacts since we moved down here, so I’m stuck. So not what I needed.

I figured that was going to be the worst part of my week. Lord, I could not have been more wrong.

On Saturday, while vacuuming the house – which is nothing new… I do this once a day – sometimes more, depending on how messy the kids are. Anyway, I overheated the vacuum and it died. Brand new vacuum that we bought back in March. Stupid thing! (I tried it again today, and it seems to be working again. Thank you, Lord!)

THEN, I decided to make my homemade peanut butter cookies as a thank you gift to the guy who came over and helped build our steps. As I was doing this, my mixer DIED. Totally stopped working. My guess is I overheated it, too. It was a cheap mixer, but still… there go the mashed potatoes I wanted for dinner tonight.

THEN, I throw some clothes in the washer. Again, nothing new. I do a load or two a day. Well, I hear this AWFUL sound coming from the mud room, and the washer won’t spin. It also won’t drain the water out. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I can’t have 4 kids AND a husband and not have a washing machine!!!

SIGH. I do NOT have the money to buy all new stuff. Heck, I don’t even have money to put gas in my car and get the kids to school this week. Now what in the world am I going to do?

Talk about a destructive day! Is the pregnancy causing the destruction, or do I just have some really bad luck vibes seeping through my body? Apprently, I need to stay away from anything that has a motor. That may be my only answer!

On the plus side, I did get some really great steps built on Saturday. We bought the wood to build the steps back in November, but the guy who kept promising to build them never got around to it. I asked Gene to ask a friend of ours to help, and he did!!! Look at my new steps:

Aren’t they pretty? I don’t know what Gene did with the other set we used to have there. I wanted to take a picture of them to show you the difference. They only came about 12 inches off the ground – if even! Picture a great big pregnant woman trying to jump out that door. I’m sure it was a sight to see most days. Thank heavens I no longer have to deal with that!
