We Flip for FLIP Diapers!
I don’t talk about it often enough here on the blog, but we have been cloth diapering with Carly since she was born. In the newborn stage, it was very difficult for us to find a cloth diaper that would work for her. She was so little, and every diaper we tried leaked. However, we all know the newborn stage doesn’t last long, and it certainly didn’t for Carly. By the time she was a month old, she was in cloth diapers full time. I’ve been blessed to have been loaned (and given) many different types of cloth diapers for Carly. Some I like, others not so much. But, if I had to list a favorite brand of all the cloth diapers I have on hand, it would be the Flip hybrid diaper system. It just offers so many options!
For this review, I received several different types of Flip products:
- Flip Cloth Diaper Covers
- Flip Stay-Dry Inserts
- Flip Disposable Inserts
I am not kidding when I tell you that the Flip Cloth Diapering System is truly the most versatile cloth diapering system I have found.
Let me explain:
First, I want to talk about the covers. They are lightweight, but provide full coverage without the added bulk. Carly has some diapers that make her hind end look humungous and I cannot take her out in public in them. I don’t have that problem with these diapers. Even with the stay-dry inserts, they fit her well enough that I can keep her in the same size clothes – the size that she *should* be in. Secondly, the covers help prevent leaks. Whether I’m using the stay-dry reusable inserts or the disposable inserts, I don’t have to worry about the cover leaking and ruining her outfit.
Second, I’d like to talk about the Stay-Dry inserts. Oh my goodness. You’ve heard the expression “As soft as a baby’s bottom”, right? Well, these inserts are softer than that! Never in my life have I felt something so soft. Carly has super sensitive skin, and I don’t have to hesitate to put these inserts near her little bum. Even wash after wash, they hold up perfectly and have stayed just as soft as the day I opened the package.
Last, let’s talk about the Disposable insert. These are awesome. Perfect for going to church, on outings, or if I know I’m not going to have access to a wet bag to store cloth diapers when I’m out. They’re super easy to use, super absorbent, and give a whole new aspect to cloth diapering. I can’t get enough of them, and now that I’ve tried them, I’m going to make sure I always have them on hand!
There are other features to the Flip diaper system that I love. It’s made for babies and toddlers 8 – 35 pounds. Most days, you’ll come to my house to find both Carly and Gage (my two year old) both in Flip diapers. I love that it works so well for both of them, and I love how easy the system is to use no matter how old your little one is. I really think having Gage in cloth diapers more often is going to help when it comes to potty training as well. I guess we shall see that soon enough. I am definitely going to purchase several of their training pants shells and liners.
Overall, I am super impressed with the Flip hybrid diaper system. It’s worked so well for us, and I only wish I had learned about Flip diapers 6 kids ago or so. And since I found out they have newborn sized inserts, I will definitely be purchasing those if we are blessed with another little one in the future. Maybe then I could start them in cloth from day one. That would be fantastic!
