Zander amazes me and drives me crazy, all at the same time. He loves to whine – day and night, and he talks non-stop, but he is the most polite, most imaginative, most artistic little boy I’ve ever seen.
Every day he’s a different superhero. Lately it’s been Ironman for everything. He even told me that when he grows up, he’s going to be the first real crime fighter. Oh, and he’s changing his name just as soon as he’s old enough to do so. Right now he plans on changing his name to “Bruce Wayne” and he was going to sign the papers to change Jace’s name to “Dick Grayson.” When I asked him why he wanted to change his name, he told me, “Well, if you had just named me and Jace Bruce and Dick when we were born, I wouldn’t have to change it. Nobody’s ever heard of a Zander Vinez, but everyone knows who Bruce Wayne is. Besides, people always say our last name wrong, so when I have an easy last name, I won’t have that problem, either.” See what I get to hear every day? I just love it. Wouldn’t change a thing!
We’re spending the day at Chuck E. Cheese, and then we’re heading to Toys R Us. It’s a heck of a drive to do those things, but he is going to have a ball. He doesn’t have a clue, and I can’t wait to see the look on his face when we pull into the parking lot.
Happy birthday, little man. I am so proud of you, and I love you so, so much.
