Hunt’s 100% Natural Ketchup (Review)

It’s summertime and that means barbecues! There’s nothing like burgers fresh off the grill and smothered in cheese and ketchup. Mmmmmm mmmmm mmmm! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

I’m the girl that orders extra ketchup on everything – hot dogs, burgers, and I’ve got to have *lots* of ketchup for my fries. But what I didn’t know is that most ketchup contains High Fructose Corn Syrup. I just assumed that ketchup was made from natural ingredients. Shame on me for not paying closer attention to the labels!

Luckily, Hunt’s has come to my rescue! Their ketchup now contains no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial ingredients or preservatives, and just 5 simple, all natural ingredients. Hunt’s Ketchup scores a home run in our house!

Mom Central sent me a bottle of the Hunt’s 100% Natural Ketchup to test out. The other evening, I made burgers and fries for dinner. I know, not the healthiest of dinners, but I wanted to get the full taste of the ketchup, and burgers and fries are the best way to do that. (And don’t worry – we had fresh carrot sticks and celery on the side so we got some extra veggies.)

I decided to do a side-by-side taste test of the fries in each ketchup: The Hunt’s 100% Natural Ketchup and the Store Brand Ketchup. I decided the winner of the ketchup taste-off would grace the bun of my burger.

I went with the Store Brand Ketchup first. It was ok. Couldn’t complain. I wouldn’t say it was fabulous, but it was what we usually used, and it was fine.

And then I tasted the Hunt’s. And then I tasted it again. And again. Oh my goodness. Hands down, it was – by far – the best ketchup I’ve ever had. Tangy and sweet and full of flavor. And boy, did it ever taste good on my burger!

My kids are just like me when it comes to ketchup. In fact, they won’t dip their chicken nuggets in anything but ketchup. I wish I had paid attention all those times to the amount of High Fructose Corn Syrup they were getting with our old brand of ketchup. Well, never again. I am committed to using only the best, and Hunt’s wins that title hands down.

Now I can’t wait to make a meatloaf with Hunt’s 100% Natural Ketchup along with my secret ingredient on top! Yummy!

Thank you, Hunt’s, for putting out quality products that I can give my family. It’s nice to know there are still companies out there that care.

I hate to break it to you, but the ketchup you are so excited about has the same amount of sugar in it as the store bought ketchup. Switching out high fructose corn syrup for table sugar is a marketing campaign based on unfounded fears on the part of consumers regarding high fructose corn syrup. There is no difference in how your body metabolizes the two sugars– meaning your “new” ketchup is nutritionally neither better nor worse than the last ketchup you had. Although, I have to say, marketing teams are probably happy all the way to the bank.

Hey Justin, just to update you a bit, cane sugar is better than beet sugars. Yes it is sugar, but at least the body recognizes it and uses it. Unlike the GMO sugars. See for your self. Look on the intenet about the real truth about GMO foods, that even the FDAs on scientist, stated that they do not recommend GMO’s, and the bodies inability to discern what it is, and the all health issues today are in most part due to GMOs, and that if Hunts is hopefully using cane sugar, and that is organic, that is better than the high fructose syrups, and fake sugars.
