But he just wouldn’t listen.
Gene was sitting at the table eating a piece of pumpkin pie. He has given me a hard time for years because I won’t touch pumpkin pie. Every year I get the same thing, “How do you know you don’t like it if you won’t try it?” You know, the same line we give to our kids to get them to eat something nasty.
Well, I had enough, and told him to give me a bite. He gave me a little bite with lots of coolwhip on it. I chewed it up and told him it just wasn’t sweet enough for me. Seconds later, my tongue was swollen, and my lips were swollen. I am severely allergic to walnuts, so we checked the ingredients and all it said was “may contain trace amounts of nuts.” Ok, great. What nuts? Peanuts, I’m fine. Almonds, I don’t like them, but I’m fine. Pecans, again, gross, but I’m fine. It appears that there were trace amounts of walnuts in this pie, or I’m also allergic to pumpkin.
Apparently, I shouldn’t have taken that bite. I’ve been telling him forever that I don’t like pumpkin pie. Maybe next time he’ll listen to me!
I took Benadryl, and it’s brought the swelling down. But, geez. What fun on Thanksgiving Day!
