Around here, my family suffers from extremely dry skin in the winter. Not one of us escapes, and we all deal with the dry, cracked skin that itches like crazy. My hands will get so chapped that they crack and bleed. And now, being pregnant, it feels like it’s gotten even worse.
So, when I was invited to try the Johnson’s Shea & Cocoa Butter line of baby oil products for my family, I jumped at the chance. I’ve always known that Baby Oil was made to lock in moisture, but I never realized just how many different types of products are available in the baby oil lines.
I was sent 3 different products to test out: Johnson’s Baby Oil, Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel, and Johnson’s Baby Creamy Oil. There are different things I like about each product. Let’s look at them one by one:
First, the Johnson’s Baby Oil with Shea & Cocoa Butter: My husband and I both apply this after our showers, as does my oldest daughter. It is a little greasy to apply, and getting it off the palms of my hands was a nightmare, but it really did lock in the moisture. My back and belly feel much less itchy on the days that I use it, so I have to give it two thumbs up. My husband has also noticed a difference in how his skin feels. He would scratch his sides raw every day, but now that he’s started using this, he doesn’t do that anymore.
Next, the Johnson’s Baby Oil Gel with Shea & Cocoa Butter: I love this for the kids. I put this on them every night after their baths, and it has made a real difference. It’s not greasy at all – which is great. And, I’ve noticed the biggest change in Zander’s skin. He has very, very sensitive skin, and if I don’t hydrate his skin well enough, he gets patches of eczema all over his arms, legs, stomach, and back. It can get pretty nasty, too. But this, combined with the lotion (that I’ll get to in a moment) has made a real difference for him.
Then, we have the Johnson’s Baby Creamy Oil: This is my new favorite lotion. I use it all the time – on every member of my household. If we head outside in the cold, and come back in the house, I immediately rub some on any skin that was exposed. Or, if someone starts getting a case of the itchies, I rub this on, and they are instantly relieved. I love the way it works for each one of us, and I can promise you that I’ll be using it on Gage once he’s born. He’s due during what tends to be our coldest part of the year, so this will be perfect for keeping his skin soft and moist. And, it has done wonders for Zander’s skin – like I mentioned with the last product. It is so nice not needing to stress out over the fear that he’ll have another flare up.
Overall, I am super impressed with the Johnson’s Shea & Cocoa Butter line of baby oil products. I will continue to use each of these items on every member of my family, and I will definitely stock up again when we start running low. Just the fact that I don’t have to look down and see cracked, bleeding hands is proof enough for me at how well these products work.
If you – or anyone in your household suffers from dry, itchy skin in the winter (or anytime!), I’d recommend you give the Johnson’s Shea & Cocoa Butter line a try.
