Let me clarify (about the swelling….)

I am not concerned about having a blood clot in my leg(s) at all. I love the little old lady who told me that, but I really don’t think that’s what’s going on.

What concerns me most is that I drink at least 90 ounces of water a day. At least. Usually it’s more. The past few days, I’ve not been going to the bathroom nearly as much, in fact, I’m only going about 3 maybe 4 times a day – compared to 10 – 12 times a day, and I can make it from 11pm – 6am without going to the bathroom at all. I haven’t been able to do that since before I got pregnant this time. When I do go to the bathroom, it’s dark, almost like I’m not hydrated at all.

That, and it HURTS to walk or stand. I mean it hurts. I’m about in tears just walking from the bedroom to the kitchen table… and it’s not like we have a big house. I have a very high tolerance for pain, so this has me quite freaked.

I put a call into the doctor at 8:30 this morning, and as I was typing this, the nurse called me back. She said that it’s just because it’s August and it’s so dang hot here right now. I’m supposed to avoid salt, keep drinking the fluids (but maybe not quite as much fluid), and keep my feet propped up any chance I can get.

I asked her about the pain and about the fact that I’m not going to the bathroom, and she said that my body is retaining the water, which is causing the swelling, and because I’m drinking so much water and retaining so much of it, it’s filling my legs and feet to capacity and causing it to hurt whenever any pressure is applied. She said if I’m in the area that she would be happy to check my blood pressure, but they think it’s just because of the heat or the position of the baby. I told her that if I’m not seeing any kind of change in a few days that I’m calling her back, because this HURTS. LOL. I figure I’m pregnant, and it’s August. I can whine if I want to. 🙂 What I don’t get is if this IS just from the heat, why is that affecting me? I stay in my air conditioned house all day long, and don’t venture outside… except maybe to get in the car to go somewhere, but that doesn’t happen until evening. If I was outside all the time, I could see the heat affecting me. But how does it matter if I’m not even in the heat? Anyone out there that can explain that?

But, I guess there’s nothing to worry about. Guess I’ll just have to find my LONG black skirt to wear to revival tonight to cover up these awful looking legs!
