Let’s Not Do That Again….

This has been such a horrible week. Parker has been so sick, and everything has just been thrown for a loop.

I took him back to the doctor yesterday. His fever had spiked even worse and had gone up to 106.3. He was miserable. They sent him over to the lab at the hospital to have some blood work drawn and a urine catch. His blood came back great, but his urine looked a little abnormal… as well as dehydrated. (Which I knew. He hadn’t eaten or drank anything since Monday.) The doctor decided it would be best to admit him and at least get him on some fluids. So, yesterday evening, I sent the other kids to Grandma’s house and took Parker over to the hospital.

During the night, his fever spiked again, but that was the last time. Praise God! His fever still hasn’t come back at all today!

When the doctor came in to check on him this afternoon, I asked her to take a peek at his throat. We still couldn’t get him to eat, and he wouldn’t drink much at all. A few syringes full of grape juice, but not much else.

She took a peek at his throat and discovered one of his tonsils was almost completely covered with a white patch. I knew it! She took a throat culture, changed his antibiotics, and decided we could go home. He’d been on fluids for long enough, he was starting to have wet diapers again, and there was no more fever. She was certain the worst was behind us. And it really looks like it is finally behind us. We’re home now, and Parker is back to his old self. I am so happy to see my little boy playing again. Such a relief.

So, things will finally get back to normal around here – at home, on the blog – and with my design work. I am just so far behind on everything! I just want you all to know that I appreciate your patience and your prayers. I really do have the best readers ever!

Awful, awful! My whole childhood was one horrible strep infection after another. I hope the antibiotics do wonderful things for him! Sounds like they are already making a difference. Big hugs to you both!

I'm so glad! I was worried for you. Poor little boy just got hit with everything at once, didn't he? Exhausting for you, too – hope you can get some rest!
