The family has been on me a lot lately, because I haven’t updated on the kids in awhile. So, if you’re just here for PR and giveaways, I apologize, but I don’t have anything new for you today. You can still enter the 2 giveaways I have going on right now, though: Cook’s Ham – 12/15 and Coombs Maple Products Prize Pack – 12/16
Now, for those of you who are interested, (Hi, Mom!), here’s what the kids have been up to lately.
Ashley is well into her 7th grade year, and she’s doing really well with most of her subjects. English is really tough for her, though, and spelling is not her forte. She is really excelling in math and science, and is enjoying the stories she reads in Literature every day. Ashley is also getting so much more mature every single day. It’s hard to believe that she was ever little, because now she acts so grown up. And, man – is she ever into girly stuff! So opposite of what I was at her age. She is such a sweet girl, and every day she makes me beam with pride over the young lady she’s becoming.
Zander is doing *great* in first grade this year. His curriculum is finally on his level, in every subject but reading – he’s reading at a 4th grade level! He’s going through a phase where he spells absolutely everything. In fact, he won’t even say my name anymore. Now I’m M-O-M. His obsessions right now include anything that have to do with the Bumblebee Transformer, which I find so funny since our kids have never seen any of the Transformer movies. But, that’s what he loves, and that’s what his Christmas list was full of this year.
Jace has started doing a preschool program at home and is really taking off with it. He’s trying to keep up with Zander, so he tries to memorize how Zander spells things and then he spells them too. Sometimes he gets it right, and other times he’s way off, but I love how much he wants to learn. Jace has decided that he wants to learn how to play the guitar. In fact, he is so confident that he is going to make the “nice” list this year and get a blue guitar, that he asked a friend from church if they would teach him how to play. I’ve already put in a call to Santa and requested a blue guitar – if Jace can manage to get on the nice list. He is my little stinker.
Lucy cracks me up every single day. She talks and sings all day long now, and she has got a total Southern accent – which is hysterical, since she lives in a house full of Yanks! She is the biggest drama queen I have ever seen, and her heart just breaks over the tiniest things. Her obsession right now is with the color pink. Her Christmas list included a pink jacket, a pink Bible, a pink doll, a pink car, pink, pink, pink. She is totally into the girly stuff, but she will give the boys a lickin’ if she thinks they need it. If they don’t need it, she’s usually right beside them, doing all the things little boys do. (She told me yesterday that she wished the boys Hot Wheels cars came in pink.)
Parker is getting smarter every day. I can’t necessarily say that he’s getting bigger, though, because he is still the tiniest little peanut I have ever seen. He’s as smart as a whip, though, and loves animals. He gets so excited over everything, and he smiles all the time. His toy of choice right now is anything he can get out of my bottom kitchen drawer – spatulas, spoons, measuring cups. It doesn’t matter. He also loves to turn my pots and pans into his drum set. He’ll pull all the pots and pans out of the cupboard, line them up along the stove and dishwasher, and then he’ll bang on all of them. He loves noise. He’s caused Mommy to stock up on lots and lots of Motrin.
The kids are all doing great, and I am so blessed. We are all getting ready for Christmas and we’re praying that our Christmas tree makes it until then. As for Gene and I, things are about the same. Gene is really enjoying his position at work, and is looking forward to moving up in the company soon (- we hope!). I’m still keeping myself busy with anything I can find. My photography business has really been booming the last few months, and God has opened so many doors. I’m still doing lots of design work, and crafting – and just about anything else I can get my hands on. You know me – if I’m not busy, I’m going crazy!
Sorry for the ultra long update, but that should keep the family happy for a little while. 🙂 To my other readers, thanks for letting me break up the monotony with a little bit of personal stuff. I hope you’ll come back again!
