New Jolly Rancher Flavor and Dora the Explorer™ Slow Melt Popsicles (Review)

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed the new little button in my sidebar or not, but I am a Popsicle® Brand Ambassador Mom. I am so excited to be working with a brand that I love so much. (And that my kids love so much!)

Before I get to my review of the new Jolly Rancher flavor and the Dora the Explorer™ Slow Melt ice pops from Popsicle®, I want to take a minute to tell you a few of the super-cool things Popsicle® is doing this summer.

First, they want to prove that Anything’s Possible with Popsicle®. Ever dreamed of a family trip to dig for dinosaurs? What about swimming with dolphins? Maybe Space Camp® has been at the top of your wish list. Well, this year, Popsicle® is launching a Popsicle® stick sweepstakes to give kids the chance to do just that! To enter for a chance to win the grand prize trips and the daily prize, the National Geographic Kids™ “Big Book of Fun”, go to and enter the riddle answer from your Popsicle® stick. (Promotion ends September 30, 2010. For a full contest details, information, and rules, visit the Contest Page.)

Another cool thing Popsicle® is doing is the Popsicle® Stick Joke contest. Think your joke is stick-worthy? Submit a joke to the Popsicle® twitter page by August 15th, and you could see your joke on a Popsicle® stick or on (Common Sense Reminder: Jokes must be kid-friendly!) The top 5 jokes will be featured on, and one very lucky winner will have their joke featured on a limited edition batch of actual Popsicle® sticks to be distributed in the US next year. (For more information on the Popsicle® Stick Joke Contest, visit:

That’s really just the start of the cool things Popsicle® is doing, but I can’t give it all away with one post. You’ll see a few more posts from me about Popsicle®, but for now, let’s get to this review!

New Jolly Rancher Flavor Ice Pops from Popsicle
My kids absolutely love Popsicle® Brand ice pops. In fact, if I would let them, we would end up with a shopping cart full every time we set foot into the grocery store. From the cool flavors to the unique shapes and designs, we all drool just a little bit when that section of the store comes around.

We couldn’t wait to get our hands on the new Jolly Rancher flavor, and boy, was it ever worth the wait! Lucy kept looking out the window for the “Possicle Man” to come and bring her the box. He finally arrived, and we couldn’t wait to dive in! The weather has been so hot here lately, and Popsicle® ice pops are the perfect way to cool off just a bit. We ooohed and ahhhhed over the cool colors and the fact that each pop has 4 flavors in it, and after waiting long enough, we each took our own ice pop to enjoy. The kids loved the tangy taste, and Lucy thought it was just the neatest thing that her popsicle changed colors the more she licked. You get cherry, blue raspberry, green apple, and grape flavors all at once, and it is yummy!
What I loved most, though, is that the Jolly Rancher flavor ice pops are naturally fat free, have only 45 calories and 8 grams of sugar per pop, and even contain Vitamin C. Thank you, Popsicle® for offering products that make a wonderful treat for my kids.

Dora the Explorer™ Slow Melt Ice Pops
I must confess. These are already a staple in our house, and have been since they were first introduced. (These and the Marvel Super Hero pops for the boys!) Lucy loves Dora, and I love the fact that they are Slow Melt ice pops. And they really do melt slower than any other ice pop, even in the scorching hot sun. I can’t begin to tell you how many shirts have been saved from popsicle stains thanks to the Slow Melt technology. Even Parker can take his time with a popsicle and not make too much of a mess.

I love the flavors you get in the Dora the Explorer™ Slow Melt ice pops: Grape, Watermelon, Berry, and Orange. They’re not your every day flavors, and they’re really tasty.
And, again, with just 60 calories, no fat, natural colors and flavors, 10% fruit juice, and lots of Vitamin C in each pop, what’s not to love?

I’m excited to be a Popsicle® Brand Ambassador Mom and working with such a fantastic company. And if you want to see more pictures of my kids enjoying their Jolly Rancher flavor ice pops, head on over to our facebook page and check out the Popsicle® album.

To keep up with Popsicle®, be sure to follow them on twitter. And your kids will love the Slow Melt Game Zone on the Popsicle® website.
