Ronzoni® Smart Taste™ Pasta (Taste Test & Review)

Ronzoni® Smart Taste™ Pasta is a new addition to the Ronzoni Pasta family, and one that includes Fiber, Calcium, and Vitamin D – and it’s lower in fat and calories than traditional pasta. It looks just like any old white pasta, but those added nutrients give it a “boost” that other white pastas just don’t have.

Thanks to Mom Central and Ronzoni, I had the opportunity to do a taste test with my kids. I made 2 batches of pasta: The brand we typically purchase along with Ronzoni® Smart Taste™ Pasta. I know you’re dying to find out which one they preferred, so let’s get to the review!

Our Review of Ronzoni® Smart Taste™ Pasta
The kids had no idea what was happening for dinner the other night. All they knew was we were having spaghetti and meatballs, and it looked like I was making a lot of it. I boiled up the Ronzoni® Smart Taste™ Pasta noodles in one pot, the store brand noodles we usually buy in another pot, and had the meatballs and sauce simmering away in the crockpot.

I put all of the pots on the table and told each of the kids they needed to try a little bit of each spaghetti. Lucy didn’t understand, because the pasta looked “just alike!” and she couldn’t understand why I was putting the same thing in two piles on her plate. Parker didn’t care. As long as I was putting food on that boy’s plate, it didn’t matter what it was!

The older kids understood the concept of a taste test, and since Spaghetti is one of their favorite meals, they were more than happy to oblige!

I scooped out equal portions of the store brand pasta and the Ronzoni® Smart Taste™ Pasta on each plate, and had the kids dive in. Immediately, Zander told me which was the store brand, ahem – “the kind I always buy” – and which was the “new” kind. When I asked him which one he liked better, he pointed to the Ronzoni® Smart Taste™ Pasta, and asked if I could start buying it instead.

Jace couldn’t tell the difference in the taste of the pasta, but I could certainly tell which one he preferred. He took one bite of each pasta brand, and then continued to eat all of the Ronzoni brand and ask for more. He never even touched the store brand pasta after that.

Lucy and Parker obviously couldn’t taste a difference, because they scarfed down both piles of pasta, and each asked for more. When I gave them another helping of the Ronzoni® Smart Taste™ Pasta, they scarfed that down too.

Ashley said she could taste a little bit of a difference, but she liked the texture of the Ronzoni pasta better. (She is definitely my child.) I could also taste a difference, but I liked the difference. And, I like that the Ronzoni® Smart Taste™ Pasta is so much better for you. Getting my kids to drink milk some days is like pulling teeth. Knowing that I can sneak some extra calcium, vitamin D, and fiber into their meals just by using pasta is awesome! (Added bonus: Ronzoni® Smart Taste™ Pasta contains as much calcium and vitamin D as an 8-ounce glass of milk! How great is that?)

Overall, I am totally impressed with Ronzoni® Smart Taste™ Pasta, and it will become a regular addition to pasta night in our house. Thanks, Ronzoni, for making it easy to feed my kids a good, wholesome meal that I know they’ll love!
