Summer Moments with Popsicle

Summer always has been and always will be my favorite season. The kids get a break from school, and there are lots of lazy days. And while it gets hot outside, there’s no better way to cool off than with our favorite sweet treats from Popsicle®!

This was the first summer that Parker was able to hold his Popsicle® all by himself. Last year, he shared one with me, and he would shiver with every lick. It was hysterical! This year, though, he showed his independence and wanted to do it all by himself. Our cat, Peanut, loves Popsicles, too, and I thought for sure that she would convince Parker to share his Popsicle with her. No such luck for Peanut, though. Parker wasn’t sharing with anyone! That was his Popsicle, and no one was going to get any of it! We all laughed as Peanut would rub up against Parker’s legs, purring as loudly as could be. There was no breaking him down. He’d shout, “No, Peanut! My ‘sicle! My ‘sicle!” and try to shoo her away. Those are the moments that make me smile and make me glad to be a mom!

While most of the world tries to cram as much into their summer break as they can, I like to take the time to just relax. Life goes by too quickly. Kids grow up way too fast. I want to make every minute I have with them count, and the summer is the perfect time to do just that. I love spending tons of time outdoors with the kids during the summer. Playing catch, heading to the park, swimming at the beach, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over a camp fire, setting up a tent in the backyard and then moving it into the living room because the bugs were just too bad; those are just some of the ways we’re creating memories together. Memories that I will treasure forever, and ones that I hope my kids will never forget.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a Popsicle® Brand Ambassador Mom. And as the program comes to a close, I want to remind you about the many wonderful things Popsicle® is doing this summer:

  • Anything’s Possible with Popsicle® Ever dreamed of a family trip to dig for dinosaurs? What about swimming with dolphins? Maybe Space Camp® has been at the top of your wish list. • #SlowTheMelt From now until August 15, 2010, Popsicle® will donate $1 (and up to $25,000) to the National Geographic™ Polar Fund. All you have to do is tweet and use the hashtag #SlowTheMelt. It couldn’t be easier to help!
  • Popsicle® Stick Joke contest Think your joke is stick-worthy? Submit a joke to the Popsicle® twitter page by August 15th, and you could see your joke on a Popsicle® stick or on Popsicle.com. (Common Sense Reminder: Jokes must be kid-friendly!) The top 5 jokes will be featured on Popsicle.com, and one very lucky winner will have their joke featured on a limited edition batch of actual Popsicle® sticks to be distributed in the US next year. (For more information on the Popsicle® Stick Joke Contest, visit: http://bit.ly/jokerules.)

Thank you, Popsicle® for all that you’re doing, and for giving me a product that can help me create those special summer moments with my kids.

Now, my friends, tell me how YOU create those special summer moments with your kids.
