Gage is 2!

It’s so hard for me to believe that Gage is 2 years old today. It seems like just yesterday, it was him that we were bringing home from the hospital. Now, he’s a big brother and constantly helping Mommy out with the new baby.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane.

Here’s Gage just a few days after he was born:

Gage 5 days old

Here he is at his birthday party last year:

Gage 1 year

And here he is now:

He is such a sweet boy. He loves to snuggle with anyone that will sit with him. He love Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, His Mommy and Daddy, his Aunt Stephy, and junk food. Yes, he has my sweet tooth. And my stubbornness. And my temper. But he gets all his sweetness from his Daddy.

His birthday party is tonight, so you can bet there will be lots and lots of pictures to share soon!

Happy birthday, Gage! Mommy loves you so much!

Happy Birthday, Honey!

Today, my husband turns 31. He was just a youngin’ when I married him almost 10 years ago. 🙂

{We don’t talk about the fact that I’m older than him.}

I am so thankful for my husband. He is such a wonderful husband and father. He works hard to support us, and he never complains when he does anything. My favorite thing about him is that he would rather spend any free time that he has with me and/or the kids. He doesn’t go running off with friends or spend hours away from home because he’s “spending time with the guys.” Nope. He’s at home, with us, showing us how much he loves us.

When I first met my husband about 11 years ago, he was engaged to another girl, and I was dating his brother. Funny how God just takes circumstances and puts us right where He wants us. I was also at the most depressed state I had ever been in. I weighed less than 90 pounds, and size 0 clothes hung off me. I was a single mom to my oldest daughter, and I knew my relationship with Gene’s brother was going nowhere. I was certain I would spend the rest of my life alone, and for some reason, I couldn’t handle it.

A few weeks later, Gene had broken up with his fiance, and we started dating. It didn’t take long before I knew he was the one. Everything about him was so different than what I had experienced in other relationships. He was gentle, kind, and so loving… both to me and to Ashley.

Over the next few months, our relationship became sweeter and sweeter. In May of 2002, he asked me to marry him. We were married that September. From the moment we said “I do,” he has given me his whole heart and has treated Ashley like his very own. No one would ever guess that he’s not Ashley’s real birth father, unless they already knew otherwise.

He loves me, he loves his kids equally, and he loves the Lord with his whole heart. I simply could not ask for a better man to share my life with.

To close, I just had to share this picture of Gene & Ashley. It’s one of my favorites, and I hope it brings a smile to your face.

Happy birthday, honey. I love you, and I’m so thankful God put you in my life.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Parker Peanut!

I know I say this with every birthday, but honestly, I cannot believe my Parker Peanut is 3 today.

He went from this…

To this…

Parker's 3!

And he fills my heart with joy every single moment.

Parker will forever be known as “Parker Peanut.” He was so tiny when he was born, and the first few months of his life were incredibly difficult. To look at him now, though, you’d never even know it. {You can read his birth story here.}

Parker is an absolute sweetheart. He loves like no one else I have ever seen. He lights up a room just by walking in it, and he can instantly have the entire room laughing out loud. He’s as smart as a whip, loves technology, and gives the best messy kisses a mommy could ever ask for.

This has been an incredibly big year for Parker. He is the second of 5 potty trained children to be 100% potty trained before they turned 3. He talks in full and complete sentences, loves problem solving, can name any color you point to, any shape you can point to, and is working hard on counting. {Although if you ask him, he insists he’s turning 7 today – not 3.}

Parker, I want you to know how much I love you. You are such an amazing little boy, and my life is better because you are in it. You make my heart smile every time I look at you. Remember that Jesus loves you even more than I do and that He will always take care of you. I am so glad that God has allowed me to be your mommy. I’m the luckiest mommy around.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Parker. I love you!

Happy 5th Birthday, Lulu!

It’s hard to believe that my baby girl, Lucy, is 5 years old today.

When we found out Lucy was on her way, my heart soared! I had prayed and prayed for another baby girl, and God had answered.

I had an incredibly difficult pregnancy with Lucy. She had a two-vessel cord, and there were so many complications because of it. She beat all the odds, though, and was born weighing a healthy 8 pounds 3 ounces. You’d never know to look at her how hard it was to get her here safely.

This has been a fun year for Lucy. We started a preschool curriculum here at home, and she’s doing great. She loves counting and drawing, and she’s trying so hard to write her name. It won’t be long before she’s got it down. This afternoon, she’ll open her presents which will consist of her first two-wheel bike.

I remember when Lucy was 2, she still had hardly any hair on her head at all. Just a few little spit curls. Amazing how long and gorgeous those few curls have become!

Lulu, I want you to know how proud I am of you. You are such a sweet and beautiful little girl, and I am so thankful that God picked me to be your mommy. I love you, honey. Keep being exactly who you are.

Happy Birthday, Jace!

I simply cannot believe that my Jace is 7 today! Seems like just yesterday I found out we were expecting him – and Zander wasn’t even 5 months old at the time!

This has been quite a year for Jace. He asked Jesus into his heart, graduated kindergarten, lost his 2 front teeth, started first grade, and we found out he has an intolerance to gluten.

Jace has such a sweet heart. He loves his Mommy – and his Daddy – and usually he’s a pretty big helper around here.

JJ, I want you to know how special you are and how much I love you! I am so proud of the young man you are becoming. Remember to keep Jesus first in your life. He’ll always take care of you. I hope today is your best birthday yet! I love you – to infinity and beyond! 🙂 ~Mom

Happy Birthday, Ashley!

Happy Birthday, Ashley! It’s hard to believe that my baby girl is 14 years old today!

She has turned into such a beautiful young lady. She is helpful, kind, and such a blessing to everyone that knows her. (And I’m not just saying that because I’m biased. Ask anyone that knows her!) She is always doing something for someone else. And she is such a huge help with all her little siblings! I’m not sure what Gage and Parker will do if Ashley ever decides to move out! I’ll have two very heartbroken little boys on my hands, that’s for sure!

I thought we’d take a trip down memory lane today. So, here are some pictures from when she was little….

Me & Ash

Before I know it, I’ll blink and she’ll be all grown up and have a family of her own.

I love you, baby girl! I am so proud of the young lady you are becoming, and I’m so lucky to be your mom. Thanks for being such a blessing in my life. I hope your birthday is fantastic!

Happy Birthday, Zander!

I can’t believe that Zander is 8 years old today!

This has been quite a year for Zander. He went back to public school after 2 years of homeschooling, and he did great! He is super shy, but he completely opened up to his teacher, and she was the best teacher in the world for him. He excelled in everything he did.

He is artistic, loves to read, and absolutely brilliant. I couldn’t be more proud of him!

Happy Birthday, Zander. I love you so much, and I am so proud of you in everything that you do. You make every day better. I’m so lucky to be your mom!

I’m making him a very special Bumblebee cake for his birthday – at his request. We shall see how it turns out! Wish me luck….

Edited to add: Zander’s cake went MUCH better than the 4th of July disaster. Here’s how it turned out:

It’s My Birthday!

I promise not to freak out because I’m getting old. I’ve been there, done that.

Instead, I’m just going to take the day off and celebrate!
