Have a Big Honkin’ Summer with Target

I love summer. The kids are off school, we can play outside, and there’s no rush to get into bed for the school the next day.

My favorite place to get the items we need to make the most of our summer is Target. From toys to games, craft supplies to food, Target has everything we need to have a “Big Honkin’ Summer.”

For this post, Target sent us a great big goodie box full of items perfect for summer fun. The box contained the following items:

  • Lemonade Stand Sign
  • Lemonade Stand Banner
  • Lemonade Stand Money Box
  • Lemonade Stand Juice Container
  • Lemonade Stand Ice Bucket
  • Giant Badminton Set
  • Toy Golf Club with Balls
  • Kid Made Modern Board Book Kit
  • Kid Made Modern Printed Tape Set

We have had SO much fun with the items in this package this summer!

The thing we cannot get enough of is the Giant Badminton Set. We can easily spend hours outside playing Badminton with each other. It’s such a great way to pass the time.

Lucy’s favorite item was the Lemonade Stand set up. She LOVES setting up the stand and “selling” lemonade to her brothers:

Parker’s favorite part is the golf set. It’s a hoot to watch him try to hit that teeny tiny ball with all his might:

Zander loved making his very own book. He made sure every detail was just perfect before he showed it off to me:

Ashley and I worked together to create a duct tape purse. That was the most fun I have had in a long time! It turned out great, and Lucy just loves it. She can’t wait to show it off at church this weekend!

Target works hard to make sure you can make every day moments more memorable.

If you head to your local Target store, you’ll find giant beach balls, sand buckets, and sunglasses that will help direct you to all the colorful summer merchandise Target has to offer.

Can get to the store? Check out the Target’s kids catalog where you can find all of these products and more for summer:

  • Kid Made Modern Printed Tape Set – $6.99
  • Kid Made Modern Board Book Kit  – $14.99
  • Toy Golf Club with Ball Set – $2.99
  • Giant Badminton Set – $7.99
  • Lemonade Stand Banner – $2.00
  • Lemonade Stand Money Box – $3.00
  • Lemonade Stand Sign – $4.00
  • Lemonade Stand Juice Container – $6.00
  • Lemonade Stand Ice Bucket – $6.00

Also be sure to check out the Target Facebook Page for lots of fun. Be sure to check out the “Summer-izer” app that will let you and your kids add “Big Honkin’ Summer” icons to pictures. Then, you can share those pictures online or you can send them to be printed at a local Target Photo Center.

Thank you, Target, for going above and beyond to make summer so much fun for my family. I love the time we can spend together playing and creating with these items.

Paint it Purple with Welch’s

Welch's Grape JuiceI am a huge fan of Welch’s Grape Juice, and so are my kids. I love the way it tastes, and, more importantly, that it’s 100% juice and has no added sugar. That means it’s actually good for you!

Thanks to Mom Central and Welch’s, my kids and I got to get creative with Welch’s Grape Juice. In this post, I’m going to tell you all about my love for Welch’s Grape Juice, the super-fun activity that my kids and I got to do because of Welch’s, and some very cool tools that Welch’s has come up with to help keep your family on a healthy track.

First, let’s talk about how much I love Welch’s. In order to do this post, I received two 10 oz. bottles of Welch’s Grape Juice to help with my review and the activity we needed to do. What neither Mom Central or Welch’s knew is that I already had 3 64 ounce bottles of Welch’s in my fridge because my kids and I love it so much! Because I’m a breastfeeding mom, I am thirsty all day long. Water is great, and I drink tons of it, but sometimes I need something else. That’s where Welch’s comes in. It’s got the sweet taste that I’m craving, but there are no added sugars, colors, or flavors. You can bet that I drink at least one to two glasses of Welch’s Grape Juice every day. My kids are big fans of Welch’s too. They love when I give them grape juice with meals, (those 10 oz. bottles are perfect for school lunches!), and Welch’s is the only grape jelly that my kids will eat on their peanut butter sandwiches. Yep, we’d be lost without Welch’s, and it’s one product that my entire family can stand behind and completely endorse.

Now, let’s talk about this activity. The kids and I had to come up with a creative way to use Welch’s Grape Juice. For days, we discussed different ideas. Should we paint a picture? Maybe tie-dye some t-shirts with the juice? We could make grape juice pancakes. But we knew we wanted to do something over the top and different from what anyone else would think of.

I can honestly tell you that I have not done a search on other bloggers participating in this tour to see what creative ideas they came up with. I wanted our idea to be totally unique and totally ours. So, here’s what we came up with:

Lucy & Welch's

"Dreaming of Welch's"

That’s right! We made our very own custom Welch’s sheet set and matching pajamas! Everyone participated in the project, and we all had a blast! Here are the kids adding grapes to the pillowcase and the sheets:

Parker didn't want to wait for his turn - he was thrilled to paint a paper towel!

Paint it Purple with Welch's Project

Our completed "Paint it Purple with Welch's" Project

I love doing fun projects with my kids, and this was absolutely no exception. Who knew that a family could have so much fun with grape juice?! My kids can’t wait to go back to school and tell their friends about the fun we had thanks to Welch’s. Ya’all need to try this. Seriously. Maybe you don’t want to get as creative as we did, but you can still have fun with your kids and some Welch’s Grape Juice. If you need some ideas to get you started, why not try cooking with Welch’s Grape Juice? Their website actually has a bunch of recipes that you and your family can try. (They have a glazed ham recipe that I’ll be trying this Easter!) To see all the yummy recipes, click here: Cook with Welch’s Grape Juice

Finally, I get to tell you about 2 new tools that Welch’s has come up with in honor of National Nutrition Month.

  • First is the Welch’s Family Vine Tool. This is pretty cool! If you don’t understand your family’s heart health history, this is a great place to start. Welch’s is helping to spread heart healthy awareness by actually allowing families to trace their personal health histories and share their results with their relatives. This tool is also great for getting information you need about your family heart history in order to discuss it with your doctor or physician. Welch’s is going out of their way to make every family healthy, and this little tool is helping tremendously!
  • Next is the Grape Science Center. This resource is invaluable and teaches you about the growing Concord grape research in areas like cognitive health, immune system health, heart heath, and more. You can learn everything you ever wanted to know about grapes – and more – just by browsing this website. If you didn’t know how great Concord grapes were for you, I’d highly recommend you check out the Grape Science Center and learn more!

Thank you, Welch’s for all that you’re doing to keep my family healthy – and for all the fun that my kids and I had while doing this project! This is definitely one project we will never forget! We’ll be “Dreaming of Welch’s” for many nights to come!
