perfect burger

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to make my perfect sandwich at a local McDonald’s with their new Create Your Taste experience. Hubby and I loaded up the 3 youngest kids, and we headed down to our Gainesville, GA McDonald’s.

When we arrived, the staff introduced me to the Create Your Taste experience. It looked so high tech! I honestly couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.
Create Your Taste Experience

Amber was our hostess, and she was the bomb! I really think she made the experience so much better. She was so kind, and she quickly and easily walked us through making the perfect burger.

Even with a squirming baby in my arms, I was still able to design my perfect burger with ease. (Do you know how much I love that?!)

Once my order was finished, I had the option to pay with a card at the kiosk, or I could pay with cash at the register. I never ever have cash on hand, so I opted to pay with a card at the kiosk. So easy!

We then headed to our table and had a seat. A few minutes later, there was Amber again, with our order in hand!

burger delivery

I didn’t have to stand at the counter with 3 kids and wait for my food. They delivered it right to my table. I loved how fancy they made it too. Wire baskets for the burgers, and even a little wire fry basket for my super tasty fries! McDonald’s has really added a touch of class to their restaurants with the Create Your Taste experience.

And look how good my burger looked….

It came out exactly like I ordered it! 3 slices of cheese, (with no extra charge!), bacon (reasonable upcharge), lettuce, extra pickle, ketchup, and mustard, all on a tasty artisan roll.

first bite!

It tasted even better than it looked, too! It was so good, and it was exactly what I had been craving.

I had such a great time trying out the Create Your Taste experience, and I want to encourage you to head out to McDonald’s and do the same. If you are craving the perfect burger, now’s your chance to go for it!

I want to thank the kind staff at McDonald’s who made my visit a real pleasure. I had so much fun learning about the Create Your Taste experience and sharing it with my family. Thank you for making my perfect sandwich a reality! You all did a fantastic job! And, Amber, keep that beautiful smile, and share it with the world! You were such a pleasure, and I’m glad I got to share this experience with you.

So, tell me…. Have you tried the new Create Your Taste experience at McDonald’s? If not, what are you waiting for?

Super Cheap Recipe That Had Kids Begging For More

As many of you know, I am not a cook. I was raised a “restaurant kid” and can order from any menu like a pro. My mom was never home to cook, and my dad’s cooking skills were limited to hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, and condensed soup, so that was all I grew up learning how to make. After Ashley was born and I moved out, slowly I started to learn to make things that were in boxes on the shelves of grocery stores. Ramen noodles, and Hamburger Helper were staples in my house. I will never forget the time I invited hubby (before he was my hubby) and his mom over for dinner. I decided I was going to cook from scratch. I made a whole chicken with potatoes and carrots. The only problem? When you cut into the chicken (after it had cooked for 6 hours), it BLED. I cooked that chicken for a total of 9 hours, and it was still bleeding. We gave up and ordered pizza that night. My husband should have known then what he was getting himself into.

Now that we’ve been married 8 1/2 years, I have gotten a LOT better. I’ve had to, because feeding 7 people food that comes from boxes is expensive. So, while I’m not a super-fabulous cook, and I definitely won’t have my own cooking show on tv anytime soon, I do come up with some recipes now and then that are real winners. Last night’s dinner was the perfect example.

Hubby had to go into work for a few hours yesterday, so I asked him if he could bring something home for dinner. The only problem? We only had $6 in our bank account, and we had to feed 7 people. Not an easy task – especially when you’re not a couponing queen like my friend Heather.

I had made chicken tacos the other night and had made enough to have extra shredded chicken that I put in the freezer. And I knew we had a couple of other things on hand, so all hubby needed to buy for my recipe was 2 big bags of egg noodles and sprinkle cheese (Parmesan cheese for spaghetti, etc).  Dinner went over so well that all of my kids asked for 3rds and Parker, (my 2 year old), even had 4ths! It was such a hit that some of my friends on facebook asked me to spill the beans and share the recipe. So, I figured I’d do that for all of you too!

Here’s the easy-peasy recipe:

Super Easy Chicken & Noodles

Ingredients

  • Extra Wide Egg Noodles (I used 2 large bags, but I have a huge family)
  • Chicken Broth (or broth made with Better than Bullion – that’s what I used).
  • Margarine (we use unsalted because I have to keep my blood pressure down; I’m sure salted would taste even better!)
  • Shredded Chicken (I used about 2 cups)
  • Parmesan Cheese

Directions

  • Bring the chicken broth to a boil. (Or if you’re using Better than Bullion, bring the water to a boil, add the Better than Bullion and then let it boil for an additional 2 minutes.) Add the noodles, and boil until tender. in the meantime, warm up shredded chicken – either in the microwave or the skillet. Drain noodles. Mix in butter, shredded chicken, and Parmesan cheese – as much as desired. Put in bowls or on plates, add more Parmesan cheese (if desired), and serve.
  • I’m telling you, this was the easiest recipe in the world, and the kids gobbled it up and begged for more. The best part for me was that hubby made it all, and then did the dishes afterward. I just got to sit there and enjoy – and watch everyone else enjoy it too! I wish I had know it was going to be such a hit, I would have taken a picture to share in this post!

So, tell me, what super easy recipe have you made that your kids just gobbled up?
