Day 11: 30 Days of Giving Thanks

Day 11: Today, I am giving thanks for my Weekly Bible Study with a friend.

30 Days of Giving ThanksFor quite some time now, I have a standing “date” on Thursdays with a very dear friend for a Bible Study. When we first started the Bible study, we had big hopes of having lots of women in attendance and changing the world. Instead, God has quickly shown us that it would just be the two of us, and the focus would be on changing ourselves first and foremost.

And, boy, what a blessing and challenge this Bible study has been – and continues to be.

We are studying the book “A Woman After God’s Own Heart” by Elizabeth George. I had done this study on my own, but doing it with a friend and being held accountable to her has made SUCH a change in my life. I am not perfect, and I have a very long way to go, but I truly feel this Bible Study is exactly what I need to get started on the right track. I look forward to continuing on this journey with my friend, and I do hope that someday God grows our little study into something even bigger for Him.

I encourage you to find a ladies group, a local church Bible Study, or even just a friend and start a Bible study of your own. You will be blessed.

What are you thankful for today?

Day 5: 30 Days of Giving Thanks

Day 5: Today, I am giving thanks for my friend Stephanie.

30 Days of Giving ThanksGrowing up, I prayed every day that God would bless me with a sister. What I didn’t understand was that He was waiting until I was ready for one.

A couple of years ago, I started to get to know a sweet lady from church, and our friendship quickly developed into a sisterhood. We can tell each other anything, and she has always been there for me. My kids refer to her as “Aunt Stephy” and we have pretty much adopted her into our family. (So, if you ever see a family picture with a beautiful raven-haired lady in it, you will understand why.)

Steph helps me SO much more than I can ever express. In fact, she and her family have taken such good care of us this past year. They brought over their spare refrigerator when ours broke down. Rob (her husband) and Steph entertain Gage during church when they are the only two he wants anything to do with. Steph even helped us find our house, when we were frantically searching for a way to get out of our too-little cabin. We would truly be lost without the Frank family, and we are so blessed that God has brought them into our lives.

We love you, Aunt Stephy… and your whole family. You are all so special to us.
