Get Back to School at Target with General Mills & Crayola {Ends 9/13} #MyBlogSpark

There’s lots of talk everywhere about Back to School! I can’t log into Facebook without seeing dozens and dozens of pictures of friends’ kids that are heading back to school and starting the new year.

My favorite place to stock up on Back to School items is Target. They have everything I need – for all 4 of the kids in school this year – in one place. No making 20 trips to different stores. I can get school supplies, book bags, shoes, clothes, and even food for lunches all at my local Target.

During the month of August, Target is making Back to School even easier:

  • Save up to $5 on Crayola products when you purchase specially marked Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars, Big G Cereal, and Pillsbury Toaster Strudel.
  • Purchase specially marked Crayola 64 count crayons and save on General Mills products.
  • Find a fun Crayola coloring activity on participating Big G cereal boxes.

I also want to encourage you to check out There you’ll find coupons for more of your back to school needs, recipes, and even a special 2012 “Grocery Savvy Crayola Back to School” Sweepstakes where you could win one of 700 Crayola 8-count Washable Dry Erase Crayons or one of 20 Crayola Zany Play Edition Dry-Erase Activity Centers.

For this spark, MyBlogSpark sent me a Back to School pack that contained a $20 Target Gift Card, A Box of Cheerios, and an 8-count pack of Crayola Dry Erase markers.

The $20 Target Gift card immediately went to my oldest daughter to help her purchase all the items she needed for back to school. (And, thanks to Target’s great prices on back to school supplies, that $20 went a long way!) Parker and Gage devoured the box of Cheerios, and we all love the Crayola Dry Erase Crayons. They’re great for keeping the family organized on our dry erase calendar.

Back to School with Walmart & Box Tops {Ends 8/31} #MyBlogSpark

The talk all over the internet is “back to school” and with back to school comes back to collecting and hoarding Box Tops to help out our schools.

Walmart has really helped us load up on Box Tops this summer. We found 4 Box Tops on tons of our favorite items – Hamburger Helper, Betty Crocker products, Totinos items, Pillsbury products, and our favorite Big G cereals. Just by grabbing the items with 4 Box Tops on them, we’ve already started the school year with a huge stash. The kids can’t wait to turn them in and show their teachers how many Box Tops they’ve got.

Did you know there are other ways you can earn Box Tops? Here are a few of my favorite ways:

Here are a few other links you should check out for the latest news, updates, and Box Tops information:

For this spark, General Mills and Walmart (through MyBlogSpark), sent me a $25 Walmart Gift Card to stock up on Box Tops. Not only did I get some of our favorite products, but I scored over 30 Box Tops as well! I love how quickly and easily those Box Tops added up, just by buying products we use every day.

Big G Curvy Straws Review from #MyBlogSpark {Ends 5/6}

As a mom, it’s important to me that my kids get their daily dose of Calcium and Vitamin D. It drives me crazy when I give them a bowl of cereal, they eat every bite of cereal, and then leave the milk in the bowl. It’s wasteful and it keeps them from getting closer to reaching their daily needed amount of Calcium and Vitamin D.

Right now, General Mills is working to prevent that from happening by including Curvy Straws in specially marked boxes of their Big G cereals. My kids love using the curvy straws to build a HUGE straw and then proceed to drink every drop of their milk that’s left in their bowl. Add to that the fact that Big G cereals are made with more whole grain than any other ingredient, and my kids have a great start to their busy day.

Participating Big G cereals include Lucky Charms®, Reese’s Puffs®, Trix®, Cinnamon Toast Crunch®, Honey Nut Cheerios®, and Cocoa Puffs®. There are six different colorful straws that feature our favorite Big G cereal characters.

The curvy straws are great for finishing off that last little bit of milk, or for encouraging kids to drink more milk in a cup. {Or a bowl – my kids always ask me to just pour more milk into their bowl and they slurp it up with their Curvy Straws.}

For this review, MyBlogSpark sent me a fantastic General Mills Big G Curvy Straws prize pack. It included the following items:

  • 1 box of a participating Big G cereal. {We got Cocoa Puffs… my favorite!!}
  • 1 Curvy Straw
  • 1 “Spilt Milk” bowl
  • 2 Glow Cups
  • 2 Tangle Toys
This was – hands down – one of the most fun prize packs we’ve received. The kids have gotten such a kick out of every single item in the box. They all love Cocoa Puffs… almost as much as I do… and they were so excited that they got the chance to have them for breakfast. The curvy straws were a hit with my older boys. They love connecting them together and making the straws into one huge straw. Parker loves the “Spilt Milk” bowl. He asks for it at every meal – no matter what’s on the table. Even I have to admit, it’s a very cool looking bowl, and even I like using it for my morning cereal. The glow cups are awesome. Everyone loves those. You can see in the picture I posted how the bottoms of the cups light up. They blink, flash, or stay solid, and they’re just plain fun to drink out of. And the tangle toys are a hit with all my kids, too. I’ve even caught my 14 year old playing with them. They’re quite fun!
This was such a great prize pack, and my kids have really enjoyed it. I’m grateful to General Mills for making breakfast even more fun and encouraging my kids to finish their milk with their curvy straws.
Be sure to try all the participating Big G cereals and collect all 6 straws. You can visit this link and download a printable coupon for $1.25 off the purchase of 2 boxes of participating Big G cereals. Also be sure to check out the Whole Grain Nation website for more information.
