My Review of the Windows 7 Phone

Back in July, I mentioned to you all that I was testing a Windows 7 Phone, and that I would soon be putting up my review.

I have no idea how it got to be September already, but it’s time for me to tell you all about my time with the Windows phone.

I have really enjoyed my time with the Samsung Focus. It’s a neat little gadget that has really kept me organized and feeling in control.

There are several things I love about this phone:

  • There are tons of apps – over 25, 000 and it’s growing at an incredible rate. They’re easy to access and download straight from the AT&T App Center in the Marketplace. {I did have to connect to a computer to download several apps and games, which drove me a little batty.} Many of the Apps are also free or you can try them before you buy them. Because I knew I wasn’t keeping this phone, I didn’t want to pay for apps that I couldn’t keep after the trial was over, so I was able to use the apps for free for 30 days. Love that! And, it’s great if you aren’t sure if you really want {or will use!} an app. Try it out. If you like it, pay for the full version. If you don’t, just delete it. Easy peasy!
  • The games are AWESOME. Since it integrates with X Box Live, you get some of the coolest games available. My kids absolutely loved that feature, and the phone kept them entertained when we were out and about. The games are pretty pricey, but they are definitely worth it.
  • Skydrive – with your Windows Live Account, you get 25GB of storage. You can upload things right from your phone to your Windows Skydrive and then access them on your home PC. I love, love, love this feature. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to be able to get things from my phone to my computer without having to plug my phone into the computer and go through a million steps.
  • The Voice Search Feature is fantastic. I love that I can just hold down a button and tell the phone what I need. It’s great when I’m driving or just don’t have the ability to fumble through my phone.
  • Microsoft Office Features – another one of my favorite features. I love that I can access any kind of document – PowerPoint, Excel, Word… quickly and easily right from my phone. I often have clients, pr contacts, and the kids’ teachers emailing me files, and it was awesome to be able to read it clearly right on my phone. Then, I could email them back immediately and they didn’t have to wait until I got home to check my computer to hear back from me.
  • I also loved that I could create shortcuts for the contacts that I use most. I was able to put my husband and my daughter on the home page so that I could quickly text, email, or call them as soon as I needed them.

There are so many amazing things about the Windows Phone. I have really enjoyed my time with the phone.

But, I have to be honest. I’m just not sure if I’m willing to give up my iPhone to switch to the Windows Phone. Yes, everything was great. I love the phone – a lot – and I think it is perfect for moms like me. {Read: Busy!} But, the thought of giving up all the apps I’ve already paid for through itunes and starting completely over with the Windows Phone sounds too pricey to even consider. Even if I did find a really great deal on the price of the phone, {which there are lots of them out there!}, the thought of paying for all the apps, games, and everything else I need sort of boggles my mind.

I am super impressed with the Windows Phone, and if you are looking to purchase your first smartphone or upgrade from a feature phone to a better phone, I would definitely recommend the Windows Phone to you. I have been so happy with it during the time I’ve had it, and I’m sad to see it go back.

Have YOU tried a Windows Phone? What are your thoughts?

Disclaimer: I was contacted by a representative from Airfoil Public Relations on behalf of the Windows 7 Phone. I have received a trial phone to use for a certain period of time, and will be required to send the phone back after the trial is over. I have not been compensated for this post in any way. The trial phone is simply to be used to gather my thoughts and opinions for a review.
