The Christmas Break that Started Too Soon….

This was supposed to be the last week of school before winter break. On Monday, we were hit with snow, and school was canceled. On Tuesday, the back roads were still a mess, and school was canceled. On Wednesday, they still weren’t comfortable with the back roads being “bus – safe” and school was canceled. Last night, we got hit with freezing rain, and …. you guessed it, school was canceled today.

Tomorrow, the kids are scheduled to have a half day of school, but frankly, I’m not sending them to school for a half day. I think half days are ridiculous, and they’re not going to miss anything. Besides, I still don’t know if I can get up my driveway because of all the wet weather we’ve had.

I’d been preparing myself for Christmas break for weeks. I knew they were going to get 2 full weeks off school and not have to go back until January 4th. And I was ok with that. I made plans full of things to do to keep us from going stir crazy in the house.

What I wasn’t counting on was them getting out of school a week early and being trapped in the house. By day 3, they were at each others’ throats, and I was trying to do everything in my power to keep from pulling out my hair. If we could get out, it would be better, but being trapped in a too-small house with 5 cranky kids? Ey yi yi.

So, I’ll just sit here and remember:

SIGH… there goes my low weight gain this pregnancy……..
