I am so excited! The Closer is starting a whole new season tonight on TNT. The series stars Golden Globe® winner and 4-time Emmy® nominee, Kyra Sedgwick along with an extraordinary cast including Jon Tenney (Brothers & Sisters), J.K. Simmons (Juno), Corey Reynolds (The Terminal), Tony Denison (Prison Break), G.W. Bailey (M*A*S*H), Michael Paul Chan (Arrested Development), Raymond Cruz (Breaking Bad), Robert Gossett (Arlington Road), and Phillip P. Keene (The DA).
I had the opportunity to preview tonight’s episode, and let me tell you… it is good. Everything I expected from the Closer and More. I don’t want to give away all of the details, but I have to give you some!
The new season opens with the squad moving into its new high-tech digs. But, we all know how new technology works, right? It doesn’t take long for all of them to wish they were back in their old space with white boards nailed to the wall and a few less “perks.” But, being true to form, Brenda will bend the space to fit her style and her needs. Robbery-Homicide Commander Taylor can’t seem to find an office, and it’s pretty clear that Assistant Police Chief Will Pope has something up his sleeve. He seems to be enjoying their new digs just a little more than everyone else.
The entire episode is full of twists and turns and unexpected surprises. Everything I love about The Closer.
Also this season, Brenda and her quad will tackle the tough cases and Detective Sanchez will struggle to care for a young boy involved in a case the quad investigated last year. Lt. Provenza, Brenda’s second-in-command, finds himself in a professionally embarrassing situation when a one-night-stand with a flight attendant leads to the discover of a dead body in her bathtub. And, we can also expect plenty of interaction between Fritz and Brenda. After Fritz turned down a promotion that would have sent him to Washington DC, he’s now in line for a job that could not only keep him in LA, but give him a Brenda the chance to spend a lot more time together.
Be sure to tune into The Closer, Monday nights at 9|8c on TNT.
