The Dog Who Healed a Family (Book Review)

I love animals, and I love books. So what could be better than a book about animals? Lucky me got the chance to read “The Dog Who Healed a Family…. And other true animal stories that warm the heart and touch the soul.”

Now, with a title like that, who could pass up the opportunity to review this book? Certainly not me!

The book is full of 19 different stories about animals that touched the lives of people in one way or another. It’s a quick little read, and it’s really perfect for just about anyone: an animal lover, a pre-teen, or even someone who needs a smile. The stories are all about hope, triumph, loyalty, humor, and love.

My favorite story in the book was the one in which the book’s title comes from “The Dog Who Healed a Family.” This story made me laugh and cry – as did many of the stories in the book – but there was something so special about that dog, Shaneen. She brought life, laughter, and love to a family that was desperate just to survive the every day. Such a powerful story, and such a joy to read.

This book is wonderful. Cover to cover, and each story brings laughter, warmth, and joy to anyone who reads it. I read several of the stories to my kids, and they’d sit and listen the entire time just waiting to hear what happened next.

I am so glad I was introduced to this book and that I had the opportunity to review it. Now, I’m passing it off to my 12 (almost 13!) year old, and hoping that she enjoys it every bit as much as I did. (I’m certain she will, since she loves animals so much!)
