For this review, I received a copy of “The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep” by Harvey Karp, MD.
As a mom of 7, you would think that I would be a pro at getting a baby to sleep through the night, right?
It simply means that I get to experience several times the amount of sleepless nights most women experience. In all honesty, my kids are horrible sleepers.
However, after reading this book, I now know what I’ve been doing wrong, and have made some major changes to our bedtime and naptime routines.
The book is called The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep. It offers simple solutions for kids from birth to 5 years.
This book is exactly what I needed, since the 3 children I have the most trouble with are my 2 month old, my 2 year old, and my 4 year old.
The book is full of tips on how you can boost baby’s sleep within days. Here are a few of my favorites:
- What’s the best white noise that’s the key to a good night’s sleep? (Did you know there’s actually such a thing as bad white noise?)
- A baby must learn how to self-soothe, so you actually want to wake a sleeping baby. The best time to wake a baby is just as you are putting it to bed.
- Learn how you can safely reap the benefits of swaddling while avoiding the risks.
- Tricks for avoiding the “cry-it-out” method, ending bedtime struggles for infants and toddlers, and achieve a more restful night’s sleep – all in just days!
As I read through the book, I couldn’t help but nod in agreement at so much he had to say. And let me tell you, there were more than a few “light bulb” moments when I realized I was doing exactly what he was encouraging parents not to do.
They say you never stop learning, and that is definitely true for this mom. I’ve already started implementing some of the tricks mentioned in this book, and I will be adding in more and more as time goes on. I am excited about it and I am looking forward to soon getting a better night’s sleep.
If you’re looking for a way to get your infant or toddler to sleep better at night, I highly recommend you grab a copy of The Happiest Baby Guide to Great Sleep. You won’t regret it!
