I get asked all the time about working from home. My custom blog design business keeps me quite busy, and it certainly helps pay the bills around here. But, it isn’t going to make me a millionaire. So, I’m always looking for other ways to help bring in some kind of extra money.
Recently I was introduced to Macaroni Kid, and let me tell you, I am hooked! In fact, it’s my new wobby.
What? You don’t know what a wobby is? Simply put, work + hobby = wobby. It’s all about doing something you love, and getting paid for it.
Macaroni Kid is a fantastic way to get involved in your community, get your kids involved in your community, and get paid to do it!
Because we haven’t lived in our area for long, I never know what events are happening. I feel like my kids are always the last to know about anything, unless it’s an event that’s happening at our church. For example, we’ve missed baseball sign-ups the past 2 seasons, because I found out after they’d already taken place. SIGH.
Now, I’ll be the first to know about everything, because I’ll have local newspapers, businesses, and churches telling me what family-friendly events our area has coming up. I published my first newsletter yesterday, and I’ve already gotten a fantastic response from it. You can see my newsletter/webpage here: http://townsunion.macaronikid.com
Head to the national site at http://national.macaronikid.com/ and see what it’s all about. Then, go to “Find Your Town” and see if there’s already a Macaroni Kid edition in your community. If there is, help a local mom and sign up to receive her weekly e-newsletter. You’ll be the first to know about all the upcoming events in your area.
If there’s not a Publisher Mom in your area, maybe you’d like to become one. It will tie you into your community, and there are lots of perks: paid advertising, freebies, barters, and more. Simply click on “Become a Publisher Mom” at the top of the MacaroniKid website. You can download more information from there. Or, drop an email to email@example.com – she’ll answer your questions and get you started.
Once you become a publisher mom, you won’t believe the amount of support you will receive. The owners/operators of Macaroni Kid are some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The community of Publisher Moms (and Dads!) will make you feel right at home, and will offer tips on what has/hasn’t worked for them. I’m still new to the Macaroni Kid Community, but I’ve already made some fantastic friends.
The territories that you’ll cover as a Publisher Mom are exclusive. And the monthly hosting fee for your website is modest, and well worth it for everything you get. Plus, you get to keep all of the ad revenue you bring in.
With just a little work, and by being active in your community, you’ll soon have a successful business up and running.
My kids are already thanking me for finding the coolest activities. Your kids will too!
