Zander’s got a crush!

My son told a girl that he loves her.

That’s right. My 5 year old son has a crush on a girl that is 3 years older than him.

The kids spent Friday night at my MIL’s house. Next door to MIL there are a couple of kids. My kids spent much of Saturday playing with these kids.

Ashley said that Zander was playing with the little girl, and all of a sudden he said, “Kaitlyn.” She asked him what he needed, and he said, “I love you.”

AAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m so not ready for this.

When I asked Zander about it last night, I told him that he’s not allowed to love another girl more than his mommy. His response? “I don’t love her more than you, Mama. I love you both the same.”

He’s just like his father. 😉 Here’s hoping I have a few more years before he really does love another girl more than his mommy!

Well, Jamie’s girlfriend broke up with him a month ago and when I asked him why, he said this: “yeah, mom, you know, she had too much homework, there just wasn’t enough time!” Yesterday I picked him up from a birthday party and he said there was a girl there that’s really, really beautiful! Boy, oh boy, they start soon!

With as good looking as your kids are, I’m surprised you’re not beating off all sorts of other boys and girls with a stick! What a sweet boy. At least he still loves his mama as much as any girl!

LOL! Alec has already been quite the ladies’ man himself in kindergarten. I think last count was 3 girlfriends 😉 One Sunday after church I was talking to the mom of one of the girls in his class (she’s also a teacher at school) and she was telling me that she wants to take Alec home with her and how he’s always telling Clara (her daughter) and the other girls he loves them.

I don’t worry about it yet. It totally doesn’t surprise me about Alec. Not in a girl crazy kind of way, but because Alec is just the kind of kid that is genuinely fond of others and lets them know it, KWIM? Zander strikes me the same way. Sometimes I take the opportunity to teach my boys about how they are supposed to treat girls.

Joey always talks about “girlfriends” and how Amber down the street has a crush on him. Even Kyle has gotten in on the act and claims that not only Clara (the girl I mentioned above) but both of her sisters are all his girlfriends. I just giggle. It’s quite clear to me through their words and actions that it’s all quite innocent. I just wish it could stay that way until they are….say….30-ish? LOL!

Aww, how sweet! He’s gonna be a little heartbreaker. Funny you posted this, I posted something sort of similar on my blog today – I can’t let any “woman” take my little man away from me!!!

What a handsome son! I heard the song by Shaun Cassidy “Puppy Love” in my head when I read this post. Thanks for the smile.

    Zander’s sweet and so diplomatic.

It’s amazing how early on they learn to be diplomatic with their replies. *Smiles*
