Anyone who knows me knows that I do not allow my children to drink soda. If – by some miracle – they do get soda, it’s something that has no caffeine, and is as close to “natural” that we can get. Options are limited when it comes to that type of soda.
At least I *thought* our options were limited.
I was recently introduced to Zevia – an all natural, zero calorie soda sweetened with stevia.
The day the Zevia arrived, I told the kids they could have soda with their dinner. You should have seen the looks on their faces! One would have thought I had told them we were moving to Disney World or something like that. Soda is a real treat for them, and they were excited to try out the Zevia.
Each of the kids tried a different flavor, and before I handed over the soda to them, I had to try a sip for myself.
The Zevia was actually really good tasting. It did remind me of diet soda quite a bit, leaving a little aftertaste, but it wasn’t overwhelming. The kids didn’t seem to notice any aftertaste, though, and they downed their drinks with dinner that night.
There are several things I love about Zevia:
- It’s 100% natural
- No Calories
- No artificial sweeteners
- No net cabs
- No high fructose corn syrup
Because Zevia is made with stevia, it’s safe for diabetics.
Zevia is expensive at $5.99 for a 6-pack, but because my kids don’t get soda very often at all, I wouldn’t mind paying that much to give them a “treat” once in awhile.
Zevia is available in the following flavors: Grape, Mountain Zevia, Grapefruit Citrus, Caffeine Free Cola, Cream Soda, Original Cola, Ginger Root Beer, Dr. Zevia, Black Cherry, Ginger Ale, Lemon Lime Twist, and Orange. (My favorites were Black Cherry and Ginger Root Beer.)
You can purchase Zevia at Whole Foods, Sprouts, Sunflower Farmers Market, Henry’s, Fred Meyer, Kroger, Earth Fare, and other natural, specialty, and mainstream food stores.
Disclaimer: I was contacted by a representative from Formula PR, Inc. on behalf of Zevia. I was sent samples of the soda to facilitate my honest and thorough review. Opinions expressed are 100% my own. I was in no other way compensated for this post.
