Avocado Berry Smoothie
We all hear about the amazing nutritional benefits of avocados. But not everyone likes to eat them just plain Jane. Smoothies made with avocado turn out delectably creamy and are, unlike other smoothies, have enough beneficial fats to keep you at peak energy throughout the workday. This is a quick, painless recipe for the busy and harried.
Recipe: (Serves one)
1 Medium avocado
½ a frozen banana
1 cup of mixed frozen berries
Raw honey to taste
Just put it in all in a blender. Use ice if desired. Some people like to use the avocado pit in smoothies, which is extremely nutritious. Just make sure you have a blender that can handle it.
Fuss Free Tropical Trail Mix
Put away that salty, sugary store-bought mix and make your own! Don’t worry, it only takes a few minutes and you can make enough at once for your entire work week if you want! This trail mix recipe if full of nutritious nuts and dried fruits to keep you energized and sharp. Please, note in the following recipe that while the nuts are raw, you may toast them if you prefer.
1 cup of raw cashews
1 cup of raw walnuts
1 cup of almonds
1/2 cup of pumpkin seeds
½ cup of dried or toasted coconut flakes
¾ cup of dried, un-sulphured mangos
¾ cup of dried, un-sulphured pineapples
Add salt to taste
Just put in a large bowl and mix!
Oats In a Jar
Love oatmeal but hate taking the time to make it. The real stuff, I mean, not the quickies. Oatmeal is an awesome snack because they’re fiber dense, full of minerals, and they’re just so satisfying. The unique and wonderful thing about this recipe is that you can make a bunch prior to your work week. They work either as a quick snack or a hearty breakfast/lunch. You can add any other ingredients to those below that you usually enjoy in oatmeal. Make it your own!
Recipe: Makes 1 Jar
½ Cup of rolled oats
1-2 TSP of Honey
1 TSP of Cinnamon
1 Cup of Milk or Milk alternative
Instructions: Put it all in a jar, mix it up and leave it in the fridge over night. You’ll wake up to a delicious treat!
